"As we do not speak French we looked up the menu on the internet and made our choices beforehand. When we arrived the menu was completely different and then it appeared we could not have our choices (i.e. chicken) as it was only offered as part of a set meal. We ended up ordering burgers which we wanted well done but they arrived pink inside. The burgers were between cakes made of grated potato, some of which was still raw. The salad it came with was just tough lettuce and there were different sauces on this and in the burger. We are on a budget and paid twice for this than what we had decided upon before going in. At these prices it is reasonable to expect the menu to be multi-lingual. All very disappointing, especially as this was to be a birthday treat while driving to Spain."

"We so enjoyed our meal at L'instant Basque. We were a little late for lunch on market day and the place was busy - we wanted to eat outside so squeezed ourselves in a corner (It did feel bad at all) and instantly we were fussed over by the staff asking us if we were comfortable and saying that they would add another table to make us more comfortable as soon as they had one available. Wonderful! The menu is very interesting and very different from the other offerings in the region and we decided to all go for the Iberian platter (assiette iberique). It was a good price around £14 euros. The staff recommended we try the local wine - 19 made just outside of Brive. It was amazing. Lovely and refreshing. Note to self, must visit the vineyard!When our plates came, we were completely overwhelmed by the size. They must have been platters nearly a meter long. The food was completely delicious. Great fresh salad, delicious and tender porc meat, slightly smoked bacon, a chorizo sausage, the chips looked home made, the cheese was good. Wow, it was all amazing. I could not fit in a dessert but my mum did and she loved it. Fresh red fruits with coulis and chantilly cream. I can't wait to visit Brive again and try some of the other dishes on the menu."
