"For our last night in Wittenberg, after the two previous pure cases, it really had to be something good. Not so easy in this city, and finally we left on a recommendation from our hotel: The potato house is a really good address. We went a little later than the eve, hoping that some guests had already gone. But when we stood in front of the house, we saw ourselves deceived: only two tables in front of the house were not occupied, and the two stood without protection, so in the magnificent sun that a relaxed stay was hardly possible. So we went to the restaurant and asked a step after a free table. After a brief examination of the reservation situation, she showed us in a corner in the background of the guest room where we could choose a table. The menus were placed on the tables in the form of sets, so we could immediately inform us about the offer. As hardly expected, everything revolves around potatoes, as soups, salads, soups, as baking potatoes, cooked, roasted. Unfortunately, the restaurant has no homepage, the URL recognizable on the photo is for sale, so only the photo shows a little more about the offer. We had quickly found our favorites, and shortly afterwards came an operation, greeted us and asked for our wishes. Madame ordered a peasant breakfast (10,10 € and a mineral water (0,25l for 2,30 €), I ordered a “Hamburger Schnitzel with Bratkartoffeln” (14,10 €) and a “Edelweissbier” (0.5l for 4,30 €). The service thanked and disappeared first in the kitchen that was still behind our place, and then rushed into the counter to order the drinks. This also took only the time necessary to inject the white beard, then it came back and served the drinks. The potato house is suitable for the rustic character of the offered foods, rustic and somewhat antique furnishings, to the details I let the pictures speak. Fortunately, it was not about sticky in the back part of the house, but pleasantly tempered despite the heat outside. After a somewhat longer waiting period, probably due to the number of other guests, the service brought our plates. Madame was right when she saw the mass of her part. It was clear to her from the beginning that she could never handle this part, but she hoped as always supported by my side. The salad dress was also not of bad parents, there were some leaf salad, several cucumber slices, several paprika strips in yellow and red and a tomato coat, and everything was fresh. On my plate there was a carving of neat size, in which the breakthrough had easily detached from the surface as it should be. It also clearly did not come out of the frit and had been beaten well before the frying. Then there was a well roasted fried egg that was best sprinkled with abundant paprika powder. In contrast, the free areas of the plate were scattered with chopped parsley, the salad dress consisted of different leaf salads and a tomato saddle, with a Klecks Coctail sauce. Where were the roast potatoes? They came with only a slight delay, but with a slightly larger proportion, separated in a cast iron shell. With bacon. And with onions. As it should be. Tastefully they were very excellent, and the farms in Schleswig-Holstein cannot do that better. The Schnitzel was also very delicate and tasteful, I was very satisfied. And Madame? She fought because her food was also very good, but ultimately she had no chance to serve her. And I couldn't stand with her, because I was just finished with my carvings and roast potatoes. Satt and satisfied we left the restaurant and paved our hotel."
