"This restaurant is great for hang out, the beer also amazing. I came for dinner this time. The food was great and the staff was really polite. Sadly, my personal favorite dish was gone, the spicy mussle. I always order the spicy mussle. Also, the waffle ice cream I order, usually comes with fruits but this time they change with whip cream which i dont like it but over all, the waffle ice cream still taste good. I hope the restaurant can bring back my fav dish again."

"Really efficient and polite service. The soft shell crab, karaage chicken and the crumbed cheese were our favourites. The gyozas we got with garlic sauce are always an easy choice and finishing off with the mochi makes it all worth it. Definitely coming back for more."

"Let's start with the coffee (or mocha for the coffee addicts). Delicious. Perfect temp and perfect taste. The food was heavenly. Crunchy hashbrowns, perfectly poached eggs, and not too crispy bacon just how I like it. I ordered the $10 breakfast which looked more like an $18 Auckland breakie, and my wife the $15 eggs Benedict. Add two $4 coffees and you've got yourself a cheap breakie that won't break the bank. Thanks team! We'll be back."

"Our first time in the el matador. we had a great experience. friendly and efficient staff. fantastic menu with a large selection of tapas that cover vegetarian, vegan, gf, seafood, meat, etc. we went to tapas for a selection that came out pretty fast. we had the opportunity to have them as they were ready, together or at a distance. every dish was absolutely delicious. fully tasted and cooked for perfection. they stand up for me were the cattle cheeks. I would add that the dimensioning of the tapas is generous. everyone would be easily enough for a main meal so that we would have ordered less courts. would pay to ask the staff how big the courts they could order. atmosphere fits the type of restaurant. will definitely be back for more!"

"A must visit for everyone who comes to Wellington!! Lovely views and great atmosphere inside. Service was quick and friendly and the food was perfect. All the portions were super generous eg: the avo toast probably had a whole avocado on it."

"What a team of hospo heroes! We arrived on a busy sunny Sunday arvo. Lovely gentleman offered to move one of the outside tables from the shade to the sunshine on the grass. Magic spot looking at the water. I Took my mum. Same guy brought water to our table while I was inside and he chatted to Mum. She was beaming when I came out at how wonderfully he’d treated her. I noticed he was the same with all the other customers. Took the time to make everyone feel special despite the cafe being busy. We ate a lovely meal of prawns n salad and had a great iced coffee that really hit the spot. An equally lovely and accommodating lady brought our food to the table. These guys deserve a Michelin star for their service. Truly passionate about what they do and show great care for their customers. Nice selection of food at reasonable prices too. And you can’t beat the location. A genuinely perfect experience. Thanks team"
