"Such a brilliant experience! Stumbled on this amazing restaurant completely by chance but so glad we did. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic, spoke amazing English and was very good with us. "I have a confession to make. I like raw meat. So whenever I see a beef tartar, steak tartare or filet american on the menu, I will take it. They serve it here as starter, or as main. The key to a good tartare is the freshness, it needs to be served cool, not cold and definitely not at room temperature. It needs to have texture and you should be able to taste and feel the different condiments, capers, onions…. It should be served with fresh bread, brown, wholemeal or even rye. Now my dish did not at all fulfil my expectations, the temperature was good, but the meat and condiments were blended to a fine mush without any real texture, they over used the sauce, which had a strong tomato sauce taste that did not enhance the taste. Then, and that was the biggest disappointment, the bread……..a small basket of toasted white supermarket bread….k, I know they still use that at some cheap sandwich shops for making toasted sandwiches, but at one of the better Basel restaurants? You gotta be kidding me…..How easy would it be to serve it with some nice slices of rustic homemade bread?My wife had the lamb dish, which was cooked to perfection, nothing wrong with it, and she loved it. My daughter had the steak, at 120grams a small one, and it was overcooked. I know it is probably harder to cook thin steaks to perfection, but if you put it on the menu, you should know how to cook it properly. The restaurant itself is a nice place, right on the river, although most of the outside tables are on the other side of the building, not looking out over the river at all. The service was patchy, we had three different waiters, who were friendly, but not overly interested. The table to the left of us got their amuse but thought it was something they did not order. No explanation was given and the small dishes sat there for 20 minutes, uneaten. On the table to the right of us, 5 out of six people got their maincourse, then had to ask the waiter after 10 minutes for the last main course. Oh, and after our starters, a waitress wanted to serve us someone else’s deserts. We will not go back here, there are more restaurants to try."

"Last year happy, but currently dinner was subpar (dink North Sea we were told, lachs entree is boiled earlier and heated again. it was quite strong – fishy not mild. this entree, served with austerity and hollandaise, was bland and needed seasoned. will not return."

"Stopped here for lunch while exploring Basel, my partner had a Pizza and it was huge and tasty, I had a Bern Toast (Cheese,Ham etc. on Toast) which came with a lovely salad on a large plate. Prices were in-line with most other places we visited, however the food was presented nicely, it tasted a good and it was a large filling portion for the price. Service was also good, menu is in German although it's not difficult to take a guess what most dishes are - pizza, toast, sandwiches etc."
