"Out of state TEXAN deciding to give some KC style Bar-B-Q. Brazen enough to walk in with my Texans by the Grace of God t-shirt on. Manager took my order and offered up some burnt ends. We’re very tasty and tender. Sold my wife and mother-in-law on Brisket with a variety of slides. Brisket is chopped, not sliced as it would be in Texas, but moist smokey and delicious. The portions were huge. Both ladies had meat to go! My ribs were well smoked and sauced. Very tender but still on the bones so you could easily peel the meat from the bone. Recommend the stop and checking them out!"

"We eat in Lonnie's before it became known as Lonnie's Q's BBQ... when it was part of the Harley Davidson Shop on the 21st in KS. At least 17 years ago... before my first baby was born. We have ALWAYS great food! No complaints ever! Today was the best we ever had... Always better thanks Lonnie Q!"

"The atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant was clean and inviting. We went for a late lunch and it was empty. I got the brisket lunch sandwich with slaw and a drink. The brisket was good! The meat was tender. The roll was fresh and tasty and I love the sauce. However the slaw was pretty terrible. Absolutely no taste to the dressing on the slaw. And the price for the combo was $12. It seems pretty pricey to me. I tried the spicy BBQ sauce and it was good but too spicy for me. Wish I wasn't such a spice wimp! Hubby got the same combo as me but with mac n cheese. He liked it but also thought it was a bit pricey for a sandwich, side and drink. It was worth the trip downtown for a try, but not sure we will go back."

"Herman's is my favorite barbecue spot in the Topeka area. Herman's has been a Topeka institution for over 60 years. At their current location, they have a barbecue restaurant, a deli, and a full-service meat counter that sells various meats and cuts for you to take home to cook or grill yourself. They grind their own hamburger and the steaks are cut in house. Also, Herman's is my family's go to place around the holidays as their whole turkeys and hams are top notch. My favorite menu items are pulled pork, brisket and the burnt ends. The burnt ends are only offered on certain days of the week, I believe. There are many delicious side dishes too, including cheesy potatoes. My favorite barbecue restaurant in the world is Kansas City Joe's, but Herman's is THE place to go in Topeka for BBQ! So give Herman's a try the next time you are in the area."
