"Good Cakes and Bakes … ooo weee.Danielle told me that the baked goods I purchased were going to make me think somebody’s grandma was in the kitchen…she was right. I bake, so I know quality goods. JUST like there’s a fashion BAKED goods place in our area that uses boxed cake mix. I bought four different items but only two pictures are attached. I bought a vegan brownie for a coworker who I asked to give me her honest opinion…she loved the vegan brownie. She said it was delicious and moist; she’d definitely have it again. I shared a spinach, tomato, feta quiche with my sister and she loved it (I wanted it to have more feta, that’s just me). I treated myself to TWO slices of rum cake and a slice of lemon velvet cake. Baaaby, when I tell you that I was excited about my choices. I know I shouldn’t buy a whole cake or go there every week, but I have absolutely found my new bakery for when I want sweets that meet both my approval and desires. The rum cake has the perfect amount of rum; my hand is a little heavier. That lemon velvet cake…I deserved every moist morsel of the three layer cake with real frosting. Rename the place … GREAT CAKES AND BAKES…grandma’s spirit is in the kitchen."

"Absolutely loved this place!! They not only sell food but have other items for purchase. Shirts, shea butter, lotions, a few other items. The friendliness of the staff was a major plus but the food was excellent. We had the turkey chop sandwiches, collard green/black eye pea soup, crochet patties, and sweet potato cheescake. I will definitely be returning."

"Had the cajun chicken pasta twice about a month apart and all I gotta say is my God, delicious. Also the sweet potato pie and banana pudding is crack. Coworker had the steak bites and then grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and mac n cheese and I've never seen this kid eat his whole meal.. twice in a row"

"Flowers of Vietnam is a stop I always incorporate into my trips to Detroit. I have even planned to drive 4.5 hours from Chicago specifically to eat here. As a person of Vietnamese descent, I really appreciate the thoughtful touches FOV puts on familiar, comforting Vietnamese dishes I know intimately through family dinners. There is light modernizing of these dishes. Full disclosure, I don 't typically feel drawn to these types of adjustments, but the folks here do it in a really respectful, mindful way that yields delightful results.The hospitality sets the standard. The entire staff is warm and accommodating from hostess to owner, the music fits with the vibe of the space, and the decor is impeccable (love the lights in the bathroom). Every detail has been gone over with a fine-tooth comb.I recommend all of the dishes. There isn 't a single item I 've had that didn 't make me smile and rejoice.When I was a chef, I fantasized about having a restaurant like this, and I am so happy to see it come to life through someone else 's vision."
