"I stumbled over this little jewel while passing through the area and was pleasantly surprised. It is a beautiful old German pub with a German customer and good German beer on the tap. After talking to the woman who owns the bar, and introduced into some friendly locals, I somehow ended up a bit roasted and stayed in the city for the night. My wife had noticed a hotel in the city, but the owners of the bar called a friend who had a hotel with an amazing view and beautiful yet cheap rooms. We ate at Eckenhagener Hof and the food was so good. We were both stuffed on hearty German meals. Just thinking about it is my mouthwater. Even the toilets were a bonus as they had these little football goals and balls on thread in the urinals. You pricked on the ball to knock him into the finish! Classic! The owner showed us inside the building and it was amazing. There's a bowling alley! Also a stage and functional room and an amazing basement. Apparently they had accusations there. We saw the rooms and I wanted to stay there right away, but they were about to get the latest licenses for fire breaks and such. Maybe it's done now. I think it's been there for a few hundred years and is the Germanie I had dreamt of seeing when I planned my trip. Thanks Doris and Hans for a great time and greeting strangers. Your Aussie friends will definitely be back!!!"
