"The P R logo remains etched into wooden table numbers; and bags by Pablo Rusty's coffee still line the shelves at The Junction Coffee Co. It is refreshing to see the new owner, Pritesh Patel, only changed the things that were necessary to change, after the takeover... this former Pablo Rusty spot. The hip, mock industrial environments have also remained unchanged. Do not scratch your head too hard about the newly used industrial items you eat when you sit on the common table in the small room. The two-stage zinc Chad table is actually a custom build by Contempo Furniture. The designers Giant Design did not want to worry about the complete regenerating caper. I will say that the warm orange annealing, which radiates from the inside out the bright rusty metal milk boxes and rows of tailored milk bottle lights, gives the metallic workshop like the interior on this cold, wintery day some warmth. With the strong emphasis on Takeaway, the Café in Lane Coves is a popular outdoor area that offers many places to din – the Junction Coffee Co. works with an order on the counter system. While you will find the majority of the café menu written on chalkboards over the counters, you will find the daily specials only on panels located on the front counter. With the temperature low, the Shakshuka $16) special proves to be irresistible before I remember I actually came here to eat one of the rich breakfast boards of the café. After I only saw them in photo form, I take a sting and order the meatboard $19), but it is curious disappointing. “I feel like it’s better served on a plate because it’s a pretty standard breakfast,” says my escort with a light eating. It is on the money – the unused real estate of the plate takes away from generosity, although it contains a decent amount of bacon, mild chorizo, freshly cut tomatoes, and pair of poached eggs on two slices of unbuttered toast. Even our community table neighbours break the social contract to exclude surprises on the sheer size of the plate. The Shakshuka, on the other hand, which is served in a two treated cast iron pot on a much smaller wooden board, is much better. It is with a single piece of toast that someone whispers the word butter, but the spicy tomato jam is well balanced and compelling. I get Harissa and a hint of Cumin, plus the more obvious onions, garlic, capsicum and – a little left field – mushrooms, but they work). There are also more grilled mild chorizo I think it is mildly less in this dish because the underlying stew has some spices), feta, and a few poached instead of baked) eggs that is also not standard. I'm guessing it's gonna make the yokens stay casual. Authentic or ad lib, it is a delicious, winter-friendly breakfast dish. As you expect, Pablo Rusty's coffee will continue to drink well over a standard Latte $3.50) and an 80g Cold Drip $5) from Kirimiri, Kenya."
