"We decided to begin camping seasonally at Green Acres last year at roughly this time. At that time the previous owners (Wade Barb) were extremely accommodating and allowed us to bring our trailer to the park to store for the winter. Over the course...of the winter they sadly decided to sell and new owners have since taken over. Initially, the new owners were friendly but that very quickly faded. We setup for the season and allowed some time to account for growing pains since it was under new ownership. We established our lot and ensured it was tidy and we followed the rules. However, 2 weeks before the season ended we received a notice that we had 14 days to vacate the property. We received no previous warnings, verbally or written that we had broken any of the rules. Now here are some of the negative things we experienced this season: anytime we had company come to visit, they checked in at the office and were not greeted in a very friendly manner. They were met with ignorant and unprofessional comments. We maintained our lot by cutting grass that exceeded the boundaries of our lot and kept to the rules of having only 1 cord of wood but we received a passing comment that it should be re piled as it was ‘too long’ (even though it still maintained the boundaries of our lot) On a number of occasions the owners came to us and complained openly about other seasonal campers on the grounds. This is very inappropriate and unprofessional. If there are issues with others they should be dealt with directly. The washrooms and shower house were closed all season (definitely not enough staff to maintain them) so the campers used their own trailer facilities. This meant that we would require pump outs of the black tank. On multiple occasions we booked this and paid for the service in advance (which is sometimes $22 and sometimes $25) to happen on the specified days that it was done throughout the park. However when we would return on Friday it was clearly not done. We were faced with hostility and assured it had been. After some time and investigation they determined that it was an error on their part as their system to track this service clearly requires improvement. Not once through the course of the season did our interactions with the owners have a positive and friendly tone. It was always negative and condescending. It was never to simply wish you a good day or weekend. You knew that if you seen the owners to prepare yourself for negativity, so we basically tried to avoid them when at all possible. My husband took on most of the interaction because I knew she was not someone I wanted to have anything to do with. There is clearly not enough staff to keep up on the maintenance of the park. The garbage and recycling area are disgusting and overflowing. The roads are full of potholes. There is a huge pile of garbage in the field that has been there all season. The kids park is in a terrible state of disrepair and becoming dangerous. The ‘dock’ is also in terribly dangerous condition and should be removed if it isn’t going to be repaired. When it rains the overnight lots on the waterfront are muddy and people got stuck on multiple occasions. Campsites require more than just water and electric to be considered a campsite. There are some overnight spots that are incredibly small but they attempt to put large RV’s or motorhomes that are unable to park in these ‘sites’ without driving over other people’s lawn. It seems that the rules of driving 10km/hr are not enforced. We witnessed many people travelling at least 30 40km/hr on a regular basis through the park. The roadway is right next to the kids park. The size of the lots differ throughout the campground but everyone pays the same price. Some lots have a waterfront view, room for a park model trailer, deck, gazebo, shed, boat, fire pit, and 2 car parking. Then others have a travel trailer, deck, gazebo, and barely enough room for 1 car and are located in a swamp. I would not recommend Green Acres for seasonal or overnight camping. There are so many other beautiful locations on the island that are better organized and actually encourage rest, relaxation, and enjoyment. Leaving this campground was a blessing in disguise."

"We come up to Manitoulin Island every year and stop by here. I'm a bit of a coffee connoisseur and this Sumatra is fantastic and always consistently good. Not sure if it the water they use or the coffee beans - but I love it. Pastrys are nice as well plus you get get internet access -a bonus! We'll be back."
