"Had some old work buddies in town and were staying in North Melbourne so we were recommended to try this hotel for dinner. Very quaint and interesting, food choice and quality was reasonable but 2 of us were some what disappointed when our ordered mixed grill was delivered. This is were we noticed it was just dry meat selection without any sides or sauce? My friend then pointed out that we were not offered the extras on menu, choice of sauce and one side dish. While we accept some blame here as we were busy catching up, I would have thought the guy taking the order would have asked the question? Interest level low. So if you decide to eat there make sure you specify in great detail what you want and expect. So from a service point of view have to rate it as average only. Not sure I would go back again."

"Such a pity it's closing down, the building is being demolished to make way for student accommodation :-(The Turf Club is a lovely, casual, friendly place to socialise. It's my current local and I have dina there around once a week; along with their $5 happy hour wines, it makes for a good deal."

"This is not a trendy or hipster pub. It is authentically working class with the market workers coming for breakfast and a beer at 8am Monday to Saturday. The footie is on TV and you can place a bet on the horses as well. My Sunday lunch was well priced and the fish was cooked to perfection. Drinks were inexpensive. Given it is an early opener, it does not do dinners, just breakfast and lunch. The staff are friendly and make everyone welcome.,"
