"A lovely hidden gem of a garden and a perfect spot for sundowners. The food was good, but we were expecting something more locally sourced/reflective of the area. Lovely to try some different local wine. We’ll probably be back."

"Attended for our Valentine's meal. Great airy setting and not crammed with tables. Food was spot on, decent sized portions that left us satisfied without feeling uncomfortable and just enough pretentiousness to make it feel special. The staff were a true asset. Welcoming and friendly,...very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Good value for money, towards the top end of mid-range, but not quite fine dining. We'll definitely return some time. If I was to be ultra critical, the lighting wasn't great in the function room where we had our meal, it was a little on the dark side and there was a slightly annoying automatic dimming setting where the intensity of the light was constantly varying. The wife would of liked a couple more petit toasts for her pate, there were only and a lot of pate... and some extra veggies with our main would of been nice, we had the duck and even putting steamed baby carrots with stalks on would of totally changed it, just the cabbage and potatoes wasn't quite enough... Also, the decor was a little bland, it was nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure a little extra could of been done with it being Valentines Day to make it special without it being tacky (a rose or and some hearts, a bit of red wouldn't of gone amiss etc) as it could of been any other day. That being said, I am being overly critical and picky We would like to thank all the staff for such a lovely evening and look forward to visiting again, maybe next time we'll stay the night."

"Had the summer salad and lamb and both were really good. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Husband had oysters and sea bass and also cleaned his plate. Music when we first arrived was great but connection spotty so went silent shortly after we arrived. Music made for a nicer atmosphere. All in all excellent!"

"Four kids and one hombre had a glorious breakfast here on the bank holiday Sunday. Nice outdoor seating with food served to the table and tables inside if the weather is against you. The full breakfast is all an adult should eat in the morning, and the smaller breakfast suited 11 year olds well. Jacket potato for a gluten intolerant and all served by quickly and hot. The view from here is something special and kids just play endlessly in front of you on the beach. Get down on it"

"The guys helped with an amazing surprise party for my wife. The manager went above and beyond to get every detail spot on for the surprise to work where we sit down for a pretend romantic meal for two but once we sat down she...signalled for the band to start playing in the function room for us to go and have a “quick listen” The new refurb now makes it flow much nicer for functions with easy access to the bar and big enough space for lots or people. The Buffet that was provided for vegan and non vegan was amazing and even though lots was provided it went very quickly. We stayed the night as well and the rooms were so lovely and spacious and breakfast was very nice. The staff where all friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend these guys for functions"

"As a family we have eaten out on Christmas Day for many years and have varied levels of success. Being frequent customers here we managed to make a booking for our family Christmas lunch and we’re delighted.This is a proper, traditional pub where you are welcomed by the landlord and a warm fire. I avoid the modern ‘plastic’ Christmas vibe of piped Muzak, strict timings for sittings and mass catering. The Black Horse was a breath of fresh air. We were unhurried but thoughtfully attended to without having to get out to allow for the next sitting.Our meals were all faultless and fresh. We had between the Traditional turkey, a risotto which was generous with the lobster and I had the vegetarian roast. The starters of Gravelax and Soufflé were all fresh and delicious.Considering the whole dining and bar areas were full we were delighted with the whole experience and highly we recommended it to friends."
