"I am hoping and preying that my unfortunate visit to The Palette in The Lightbox in Woking coincided with the Chef's day off, because if this is the sort of food that they regularly serve up to their customers, then I am surprised that it...still open! I visited this establishment on Sunday September as a prelude to viewing the art on display in the gallery, and all I can say is the food is shockingly tasteless and bland. It all started so good as well, we were greeted by the waiter/server, who was extremely friendly and helpful as we fathed about deciding exactly what to order. Problem was it all sounded so decidedly yummy! In the end though we opted for the Thai Curry, Burger and Jerk Chicken. Sounds nice doesn't it? Well it damn well wasn't, first problem was it took about mins from ordering to appearing on the table. There was only two other tables when we arrived and only one of them was waiting on food. This is not acceptable and should be addressed asap. Now onto the food, it is difficult knowing where to begin when every single dish ordered was so below standard. The staff knew that we had been waiting too long, and the chap who eventually bought our food out apologised profusely for the delay and said that it would be worth the wait! Really? Honestly? It all looked very nice, until we tasted it. The Thai Curry was appalling, tasteless, bland, under seasoned and watery. The chicken was of very poor quality, being stringy and insipid. Some bits were actually hard and un-edible. I assume that sourcing their meat is not important to them as this dish was disgusting to say the very least. The Jerk Chicken was served in a focaccia roll with salad leaves and crushed potatoes. The seasoning was ok but who on earth puts chicken on the bone into a roll? Weird! Two of our table had this dish and both were shocked whilst eating it to come across the bones. I just hope that no small children had this because while the bones were quite big they were also rather unpleasant to come across. To make matters even worse the crushed potatoes were luke warm verging on cold. The Burger was also below quality and presented with over fried chips, that looked liked they had been in the fryer for about a week. This dish was the most edible of the three that we ordered and with a little tweaking could actually be a rather nice course. Even though the food at The Palette was way below standard, the staff that we dealt with were extremely courteous, friendly and amiable. I just wish that I could say the same for the food! The Palette is in a very nice setting and has the potential to reach great heights albeit with a different attitude and with a different ethos. Maybe those in a position of power should pop down to Field Fork in the Pallant House Gallery (Chichester) to see exactly what could be achieved if they put their minds to it. "Decided to venture out to see what life was like in the local Pub, faced with two door staff who were only advising people to disinfect hands by dispenser by door this was empty, no request to complete any track trace forms..Went to the...Bar bought drinks then found a table had not been wiped or cleaned then noticed smoking area was pretty full of people no social distancing. Long queues formed by the Bar which snaked past people’s tables all very uncomfortable. Whilst the drinks were good value it appeared any concept of extra staff ensuring surfaces were cleaned or numbers of individuals occupying tables did not appear to be enforced, come on Spoons yon need to sometimes forget about profit."

"We visited The Cabin just for a drink. It it such a lovely, homely and welcoming atmosphere. The staff behind the bar are so friendly, chilled and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent cocktails too."

"Fresh, friendly and fast! I thought I would try bijou as it is near my company surrey office and it looked like a real local business. had a speck egg baguette on fresh granat with the perfect amount of ketchup. perfect! in any case come to lunch and taste her coffee; highly recommended."

"Well, as out ot Town first time visitors to see Ed Byrne excellent! The Theatre was standard modern. However, the staff were helpful and efficient. Bar prices were fine in these inflationary times My only complaint was the seating. Comfortable yes but Row c was actually Row D! This was very confusing for lots of folks. Sort that and you are definitely onto a winner!"

"First time in this pub for some time, and on arrival we went up to the bar, only to be told it 's table service only. Very odd, as since restrictions have been scrapped in the last month, this was the first time we 'd experienced restrictions in a pub like this. We sat at a table less than 6 feet from the bar, only to be fronted with a member of staff taking our drinks order. All the table staff seemed to be very young, and they had to write down the drinks order, only to take it less than 6 feet to the bar where they placed this down on the bar for the one bar person to serve. Whilst we were there, the staff were forever asking Are you alright for drinks? . We didn 't need to be asked, and when we did want another drink, we were happy to flag one of them down. It seemed ludicrous having this type of service, when it would have been better to be able to stand at the bar to order the drinks and then go to the table, allowing the table staff to wait on the tables that were having food served. I doubt that they would know any information about the available drinks, including brands and ABVs. It would have been better off having another member of bar staff, and less table staff. When we arrived around 6pm, there were four table staff hanging around the bar. It also seemed strange that they were all wearing long sleeved hoodies in August. We will be happy to re visit the pub when the operation of the pub is more reflective of the layout and service offered."

"First impressions were a little old fashioned local pub, with good social distancing measures in place. Girl behind the bar was SUPER, very attentive, very personable, efficient and offered the service you get in high end establishments! Food was really good too, proper pub grub but really good"
