"This is a friendly bar-brasserie-hotel on the main square, right next door to another one which had comfier-looking seats but which was charging about half as much again for its menu. I went for the plat du jour, usually the best value on a menu,...and had an excellent suprême de poulet lots of tomato and mushroom in the sauce. It was served with frites and salade (i. e. lettuce). I don't like lettuce, so declined it; I was rewarded by them compensating by covering my plate with a mountain of chips most of which I ate. Washed it down with a large pichet of a very agreeable local rosé (Coteaux du Vivarais) and a nice cup of coffee. Less than the lot! I don't normally dine al fresco as the smokers tend to be there; but today was very hot and there were canopies providing plenty of shade. So it was pleasant to sit and eat while watching the world or, at least, this very pretty little town in the Drôme passing by going about its business. Popped in again later in the day for a quiet (indoor) drink to slake my thirst after doing the wine tour."
