"We went for dinner, place is very open with a kind of Industrial decor but too many fake plants.Food was nice but there was confusion over our order. Ordered the Chicken Scallopini on a bed of Mash, my B/f ordered Pork Belly Asian Salad with a side of chips. He was served a Pork Belly Pizza!The waitress tried hard to convince him that was what he ordered! Finally got through to her that was not the order he got his ordered meal 20 mins after my meal had arrived. He enjoyed the salad but it was a small serving. Chips were nothing special, tried to be dressed up fancier with Sea Salt flakes, pretty much what you'd get if ordered from a Cafe to go. Overall was OK experience, but certainly nothing special pricing was a little overpriced for what you get."

"As the current COVID-19 pandemic is currently in full swing my family and i thought it was time to support a local business' however when being delivered the service and quality of food from the Metropolitan we were very dissapointed. the food tasted great but...the presentation was not appealing at all. That wasnt the worst of it, the guy i spoke to on the phone was exceptionally rude he didn't even give me his name when he answered which I thought was disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall it was a very disheartening experience being in the current pandemic the world is in my family were supporting local businesses' and usually wouldnt order here but went out on a limb and we have been highly dissatisfied."

"Very nice hotel in Bendigo and the Yardbird cafe very pleasant. Very friendly and cheerful staff and good food. Only complaint and quite small they seem to be having an identity crisis and unsure whether fine dining or pub classic is the way to go...but stipll very good food."

"Average is probably the best description I could use. Grabbed some take away last night, there were a lot of options, but it was more a quantity over quality situation. Tried the pan fried vegetarian dumplings, hardly pan fried. Garlic sautéed vegetables, they weren’t great wasn’t able to finish them. The vegetarian fried rice was the saviour of the meal at least, that was quite tasty. Overall, I was hesitant to try rightly so, as I doubt I’ll be back."

"As mentioned in a previous comment this place is now 8 Sisters cafe and Grill. the food was cooked just perfect and the service was quick and friendly.the servings are massive so don't do what we did and have a late arvo tea as we didn't even come close to fi ishing the meal. i cannot reommend highmy eniugh the Southern Fried Chicken... screw KFC this was delish."

"I went there for lunch after see pictures of the food on facebook. It was a huge disapointment with our choices. I had the Scott flillet, the steak was thin but very taste, the chips had taste enhancement Chicken Salt). The veggies was bland,...the sauce tasted like stock tablets melted. My partner got the Individually slow cook lamb. The apresentation was perfect but the Lamb was very bland and tasteless. Make me wonder how good the chef must be to remove the Lamb flavor. The mustard bread was nice. Thanks God."

"Malayan visits orchid twice last week during work in Bendigo. It was during the Elvis show at Art Gallery, so it was almost impossible to get a table somewhere in View Street. When I first came at 8.30, I could only get a table without booking. The (new? front of house manager was fantastic and very hospitable, how was Pam when I last visited Pre-Covid. Both food and beverage service has improved for several years, less fussy, faster, simple menu etc. The wine list offers some great drops like the Mandurang Merlot at just $8 a glass. Bress Chardonnay is also excellent and very "priced". Premium wines to 'house wine' prices, this for $12 have seen a glass not far from there. The beef-endang share was huge, a considerable amount of beef considering that this is reduced for many hours. Small fried rice small part also very generous. The staff was above all under pressure. Thanks to the young man who worked the front counter who called me when a table was available as I had a booking a few nights later. Delicious food. Bookings are probably essential for the next few months."
