"Ok so I weren't gonna review on this place cause I kinda feel bad for the guy. He's trying but on all the good reviews I read they look like people from outta town who probably know nothing of NC BBQ. I give them a 3 cause the staff was excellent. Flavor wise, well it's no smoked flavor in the meat , all I can taste was chili powder. I got pulled pork and the wife got half a yard bird. Full chili powder flavor. Even the sauces taste of chili powder. I'm sorry Tony but we won't return and to others, well eat there if you want. I tried it for the sake of its locally owned but I'd rather have missions bbq, Smithfield or Moore's."

"Bar and grill with a diner vibe. The food is delicious. The staff is very friendly. The 2-top tables are slightly moved so that my party of 7 could sit together. You also have an outside seat!"

"I would definitely give Surf City Barbecue a second try. I like the decor with the album covers on the wall. The staff were really friendly. Our server was awesome. The food looked great but was a little bland. Nothing a little Tony's (Tony Chachere's cajun seasoning) couldn't fix. Maybe it was just what I chose. The BBQ nachos were first rate with a little hot sauce. The curtains were dirty but other than that the restaurant was clean."
