"I've been going to this place for over 25 years, even if the previous owner rick sawyer owned it. I thought today was a fast lunch and ordered a cheeseburger medium, grilled with a piece of wobble. when I received him, the burger was well done and the grilled was black. When I started eating it, it was burned and burned and I couldn't bite it. this place used to have one of the best burgers in madison. so sad that this happened to the new owners."

"An odd duck. I got takeout from here and was pretty disappointed. While their scallion pancake was tasty, the rest was either average or below par. I ordered the roast duck with taro and was honestly shocked by the pieces of duck they gave me. It looked like someone had butchered this duck in the most haphazard way possible. I was able to identify a duck neck, the very bottom of a leg (they had chopped the leg bone into pieces which I've never seen before) and a fair amount of skin that was not attached to any meat. The sheer number of bones I encountered in the dish was truly disturbing. Taste wise it was OK, but thanks to the way it was prepared I would never order it again. My girlfriend got the vegetable fried rice and sauteed broccoli and was not very impressed by either dish. She had to put soy sauce on her broccoli to supplement the flavor because it was definitely lacking. Needless to say I'll be going elsewhere when I'm looking for Chinese."

"This place is the real deal. the smell of the smoker is the best ambiente of all. the ripening, chili and bbq sauces were great. the ruin on the ribs was perfect, with a hauch of brown sugar w/ the seasoned. the meat had the perfect amount of tug. I hope they are able to scale because I see that popularity rises as soon as the word comes out. hopefully they offer more locally grown/bred meats in the future."

"Every single time i ask for no lettuce, and 9/10 times there is lettuce on the sandwich. its so hard to be understanding when every time you order they clarify ?no lettuce?? and you say ?no lettuce? just to receive a sandwich full of lettuce. i dont understand what else i have to do to get a sandwich made without lettuce. there was an occasion where ?no lettuce? was clarified twice, and i still got lettuce. the manager told me its because when you take lettuce off it doesnt say ?no lettuce? on the ticket, the word lettuce is just removed. so i understand that makes no sense and it could be easier to read for the people preparing the food, but why is it so hard to notice that there is no vegetables on the sandwich, i just want meat and cheese. i was really upset when i wrote this, it just makes me upset because ive been here maybe 15 times, and atleast 10-12 times its been messed up"

"We tried Buck and Badger before a show next door at the Overture Center. There's a bar room and a dining room. The ambiance is North Woods cabin with lots of light wood. The restrooms are shared with the Ivory Room in back.<br>

The bartender greeted us immediately when we walked in and then a waitress quickly escorted us to a table. She handed us the menus which I got a kick out of. The cover is a heavy wood panel which makes the menu seem like it will be large but really it's a small assortment of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. For the most part, the prices seemed quite reasonable. There is a fairly extensive drink menu. Our server was friendly, though not always prompt.<br>

We weren't that hungry so we decided to just go for appetizers and had the cheese curds and boneless chicken wings. The cheese curds were excellent. A decent portion, light breading, gooey insides. We opted for blue-cheese dipping sauce rather than ranch and they were quite tasty. <br>

The boneless chicken seemed a little pricey for what you got. We ordered the smokey bbq and a side of blue-cheese. The BBQ actually came on the side rather than being on the wings itself which I was fine with. My partner felt the chicken tasted like processed nuggets but I felt it was OK. The menu said it came with carrots and celery which we had to ask for.<br>

I was not wowed by any of the food, but I did appreciate the ambiance, the friendliness, and for the most part the reasonable prices on the menu."
