"I wandered in wanting a snack, but found the staff didn 't know what was vegan their menu only has a symbol for 'vegetarian '. One item (a brownie) had 'vegan ' in the description and the waitress said it wasn 't, which was confusing! Also things like the apple pie were apparently not vegan. So my options were limited, but in the end I got a nice turmeric latte with coconut milk and an acai whip with fruit. It was nice sitting at the wooden bench out the back in the sun, watching the ocean. It 's table service only, and I waited ages for the acai whip, but I was on a long weekend chilling out so it didn 't matter. The only other disappointment was that the acai whip came in a disposable cup (with 'compostable ' spoon I 've heard these actually take ages to decompose) even if you 're eating in. All in all, not really a vegan vibe here, but good enough if you 're in the area, and it 's a nice setting, with no traffic, and an ocean view out the back."

"My favourite coffee spot in Gold Coast! Very cosy spot off James st. Their signature coffee beans from Cleanskin is the most unique and flavourful. I have been to several cafes on the coast but nothing beats Canteen Coffee. All the staffs are very friendly especially Camila."

"The food here is delicious! Great coffee, and cronuts that are out of this world!!!! I may have driven an hour to get here because they are that good! Have also had the crispy lam bowl (added haloumi and avocado) and it was fresh and delicious!!! Both times I've been here staff have been friendly, and it hasn't been overly crowded or noisy which is nice. Very clean also. Highly recommend!"

"This cafe has recently been taken over by new owners, and I must say that the quality of the food and service has improved a lot! All of their food is very reasonably priced, tastes great, it's fast.. and you get a great helping of food so you'll never leave hungry from here. They open up early which is very convenient, the coffee is nice, and they do a soup in the cold months which is lovely and warming in the morning. I work nearby and they even deliver it to my office!"
