"One of the best cappuccino I had in ages!! I'm someone also trying and searching for good coffee. Super delicious, the owner roasted the coffee beans himself, I bought a bag of 1KG. Now I'm back home, and started to worry what I'm going to do after I finished the pack. I was attracted by the window display, and love the interior. Super friendly owner too. If you are passing by, you will not regret to make a stop there."

"I came to Cafe Burkhardt very late just 15 minutes before the kitchen closed but I promised to place my order quickly. The manager helped to translate the menu and I made my selection quickly arugula, small potatoes, pesto and goat cheese. He also recommended a local wine for me to try. Everything was delicious and a nice change from all the heavy food I'd been eating. The only reason that I cannot give 5 stars is that when it came time to pay the bill, I presented my credit card and learned for the first time that the restaurant was cash only. There was no sign posted anywhere that I could see (or read since I don't speak German) and I was definitely not told prior to ordering. I didn't have enough cash on me to pay my bill so I left the money I had with the manager and he was kind enough (and trusting) to let me go back to my hotel and get the cash I needed. It was just a little embarrassing and thankfully, I had the cash at the hotel as it was late and I would not have wanted to go to an ATM. I would definitely return to the restaurant again though and bring cash!"

"Masala in Heidelberg is not your typical restaurant, but it serves delicious Indian dishes with high-quality ingredients that easily rival the food served in good Indian restaurants in the region. An advantage Masala has sold over the restaurants it also the ingredients you need to cook your favorite Indian dishes at home! Masala is owned by Usha Middlemas, from Bangalore in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. In 2001 she founded Masala in Heidelberg and sold Asian foods because at the time such specialties were difficult to find. In these days, Masala mainly supplies food from India, exotic spices, fresh specialties and Ayurvedic products. In addition to packaged foods and drinks, Usha’s own extensive selection of spice blends in the shelves – the “Lemon Masala” is a bestseller! You can find a nice selection of hard to find fresh fruit and vegetables used in Indian cuisine. Amla, arbi/taro, bhindi/okra, drumsticks, gawra beans, green and ripe papayas, plantains, Labosiam, long squash, ravaya pink aubergine), Sambar onion, snake gourd and Thai aubergine belong to some of the offers. Step to Masala and you will see high tables and chairs set up in the middle of the shop. Lunch is served daily from noon until all dishes are sold out. Thursdays are “Dosa” days! Choose either vegetarian € 8, chicken € 8,50) or a mixture of both € 8,50. Plain dosa costs 5 € each. Get an additional portion of coconut chutney to go with your dosa for €2. Usha prepares a few South Indian treats on Saturday – vada €2), idli €2) and sambar €2). On other days, Indian food fans can enjoy a variety of Curries, Thial and Chutneys. Choose from the following degrees of spiciness – light, medium, hot and “Indian hot”.
