"20200501: a breakfast restaurant that makes a common Taiwanese breakfast food 蛋餅 that is essentially a rolled crepe with eggs. they are quite good but the ones from this shop are a bit unusual. by unusual, we mean there was an intense and overpowering flavor of uncooked batter. not sure if this is what people like (maybe uncooked batter is considered a delicacy in these parts? but it was close to inedible. could not finish the whole portion despite being somewhat hungry. as you can see from the photo the portion is quite thick and substantial--perhaps this is why? in contrast, had the rolled crepe at Toast Toast later in the day and there was no uncooked batter taste. the soy milk and the tea with soy milk were excellent though."

"If they are not quite in the mood for shaved ice or tofu pudding, this shop is a beautiful Taiwanese dessert alternative. the konjac gele adds this special chewing texture to mung bohnensuppe, which is usually not there. (white holzar is not quite the same. really affordable and had a steady stream of customers without forming a line on a Saturday afternoon in late December. they also had a few winter season menu items that I wish I had a lean capacity to try! longan rice cake congee, black sesame soup and red beans with glutinous rice balls. byo 400 ml container and reusable spoon to be particularly environmentally friendly: even if they dip into one of their exterior tables, they give them a paper cup and plastic spoon. there is even a flush on the way where they can rinse everything afterwards, so they have no excuses!"

"There is no English menu, but staff translated for us and gave us recommendations, we had the thick noodle in soup with dumplings, and one dry noodle dish, ended up ordering the dry noodle dish again as it was so good. The staff are so friendly and bubbly, gave us a complimentary dessert at the start (Almond tofu with red beans)."

"I haven’t enjoyed traditional Taiwanese chicken egg cakes 雞蛋糕 since I went vegan, so this was a real treat. Out of six flavors, all were vegan except for cheese 起司 : red bean 紅豆 , nuts 堅果 , chocolate 巧克力 , almond custard 卡士達 , and curry chick’n 咖喱雞 were. The last two were limited time flavors, so you might see something in their place when you go. The original cakes without flavored fillings are ready to go, but she bakes the filled ones to order, so you may need to wait a bit for those. You can only order in multiples of five. If you want five original cakes, it’ll cost NT$40. But if you want flavored ones, five in a single flavor costs NT$50 while choosing two different flavors in any desired combination i.e., one and four or two and three costs NT$55. Among the three beverage options, only the fresh milk tea 鮮奶茶 wasn’t vegan: try the plum tea 烏梅茶 or black tea 紅茶 instead. She also has a stack of old CDs that you can peruses and even take home for free: she doesn’t accept payment for them. I chatted with her while she was making three curry chick’n and two almond custard cakes for me. She threw in an extra original one for me checking in on Facebook and another because I brought my own container. How sweet of her! The batter tasted like it had a hint of lemon, which I enjoyed. The almond custard had small bits of almonds in it. And the curry chick’n was made with potatoes, carrots, and pan-fried battered tofu. So delicious! I was so full from eating all of those cakes that it basically was my dinner. Hoping to try her other flavors next time."
