"As someone that has been spoiled by the LA Korean food scene, I admittedly am a bit of a snob when it comes to Korean cuisine. Southgate definitely made the grade!! First off, the interior immediately makes you feel at home, classic Korean restaurant interior. Bbq tables have vent hoods which does wonders in minimizing the smell of meat on your clothes. As soon as you sit down they set you up with the classic trio of soybean paste, raw jalapeños and raw garlic to accompany your bbq (another sign of a great authentic kbbq restaurant, when that trio is a given and you don't have to ask for them. They also have thinly sliced radish wraps alongside and don't forget the sesame oil with sea salt We ordered combo number one which came with galbi, thinly sliced brisket and thick cut pork belly. All the meat was so fresh, and you could clearly tell they never saw the inside of a freezer. The combo also came with white rice and of course a banchan set (see my photos for a detailed list of the banchan. The combo was $62 and let me tell you, that's about the same you would pay for 2 people at a ayce spot and this beats any ayce spot in WA by miles and it was plentiful (with food leftover to take home for second dinner! I also loved that they brought us 2 sets of tongs, one for each of us, such a nice touch because most places bring you one pair of tongs, leaving one person to do all the cooking or, resulting in a meal long game of pass the tongs (which only disrupts your feasting!! The staff was also super attentive and friendly Overall a definite 5 star experience, I will be a frequent diner!!!"
