"Since Wetherspoons sold this site in 2016, it 's gone through a couple of different 'managements '. I need to stress that these have been very poor, BUT this review is for the current one at time of writing (early 2019). We have now visited the Spinning Mill 3 times in the last 3 months, each time the service has been exemplary! The staff have been genuinely cheerful, great smiles, and make you feel special as opposed to being an interruption to their day. The menu is simple pub fayre, but what more do you want in a pub! The quality of the club sandwich I had was the best I 've ever eaten. My partner had the chicken wrap which was very tasty. They also offer a great wee £5 special menu too photo attached. The other meals we saw being served all looked really good too. The new owners need to contact TripAdvisor and remove the old non relevant reviews from this location as the new incarnation of this pub deserves to be recognised! As long as they keep up the service and food, we 're now back to being regulars..."

"Just took a delivery of a Sals Kiev with chips and garlic bread. We asked for the garlic bread to be crispy (as it always should be) and the receptionist said no problem. What we got was disgusting. The pizza was cold, the chips were frozen fries and the garlic bread was a finger roll with garlic butter in the middle awful (and cold). The pizza dough was also under cooked which I would have thought is almost impossible. We called back to register our concerns and the receptionist was less than helpful. She basically didn't give a c**p. Some customer service. The strange thing is we were not asking for out money back we were just giving feedback but she didn't care. This is only my 2nd tripadvisor review ever and I hope the Big Als owner sees this and takes some action. We asked the receptionist to pass our concerns on to the manager but I seriously doubt that he was informed. Maybe a change of staff would be in order. The sad thing is Big Als 20 years ago was really good. Obviously standards have dropped. We will never order from Big Als again. Just a pity we don't have any decent take outs in Ballymena."

"My wife and I called here on the recommendation of a friend. We wanted a more substantial lunch than just our usual sandwich. She had the Chicken Maryland with garlic wedges which had a large chicken fillet with sausage, bacon, pineapple and banana fritters as well as peas and a wee bite of salad. There was a generous portion of large potato wedges doused in garlic butter. I had the breaded chicken goujons with chilli potato wedges which offered 5 large goujons with a wee bite of salad and a generous portion of large wedges doused in chilli sauce. This was excellent food at very reasonable prices and offered a very substantial meal. Very highly recommended!!"
