"This is a good local pub. It has a really cool quirky decor, and has loads of events like Morris dancing, theatre, bring-your-own-cheese evenings and folk music, and the location alongside the canal is gorgeous, with both indoor and indoor seating and tables. They always have a good selection of local and international craft beers in cans and bottles, as well as on tap. They have a small menu of traditional and Mexican fare, and on Friday evenings there’s a lot of free food doing the rounds. It’s basic food but okay for the price. Music tends to be classic rock and soul, and is at a low enough volume that you don’t need to shout your conversation. We always pop in when we’re visiting Berkhamsted or walking along the canal."

"Love this place! Was there Thursday for steak night.. have been quite a few times.. the time before was a bit disappointing, teething problems. This time amazing food was great! Service was brilliant! Lovely waitress spot on with service, especially as it was so busy! Love that it’s our local our frenchie is always welcome "

"Late booking but accommodated and happy that we got in. The roast was amazing. The veggies cooked perfectly. The red wine (malbec) was a decent bottle for the price and enjoyed by all. Deserts were large and lush. Definitely coming back once I’m over my food coma!"
