"What a fabulous 18-hole course in the Golfclub Urslautal, beautifully located in a quiet landscape on a high 800m plateau between Saalfelden the magnificent rural Maria Alm. The Par 71 golf course offers an entertaining challenge, about 6000m from the white tea boxes and 5738m from the yellows. Partly long, partly hilly, but it is not too steep or narrow. And you're grinding halfway to 19th. Hole back if you need a drink or snack in the beating Alpine summer sun! It is another beautiful design of the British golf course architect Keith Preston, who also designed some great tracks in Austria with the excellent Mieminger Plateau GC at Telfs, Tirol. With its hilly terrain, wide fairways, many biotopes, ponds, streams and dog legs, Urslautal demands an equally decent game and good cleaning. The friendly clubhouse is well furnished without being noticeable. There is a good kitchen and cold refreshing beer to forget the bad shots and celebrate the glorious!"

"Eine meiner Lieblingsziele. Ich war schon mehrere Dutzend mal auf der Alm, zu allen Jahreszeiten, bei jedem Wetter, allein, mit Familie, Freunden oder Hund. Dort auf der Bank zu sitzen, das raue, uralte Holz im Rücken spüren, den Blick über eine weite, vielfältige Landschaft schweifen zu lassen, dabei (nichts als) den eigenen Atem zu spüren - das sind Momente ganz besonderer Art. Und jetzt schließe ich diesen Kommentar und gehe wieder hinauf, auf die Lechner Alm."

"It was here many years ago during our first trip to Maria Alm and had very good memories. So now back in Maria Alm I wanted to relive these good memories, but this became a great disappointment. We ordered coffee and hot chocolate with cream, but both were very watery and basically tasteless. My partner drank only 2 sips of her coffee and left him, I finished my chocolate, but not because it was so great tasting. The cream was of good quality. The place has a very nice atmosphere and if you really want it can be made a lot of it. The service was quite uninterested and somewhat unfriendly, not at all on the standard we normally experience in Austria. So we will go back to Maria Alm for skiing, which is safe, but the village cafe that we are passing from now on, waste of money and time."

"This restaurant is located at the very end of the main road into Maria Alm. It looks like a little cabin in the woods and when you get inside it is warm and welcoming. We were greeted by a "gentle giant" who was serving totally on his own and the place was packed. Despite being busy he greeted us and told us to seat ourselves where ever we could. A couple waved us over to join them and although limited English we connected with them right away. They recommended a dish that had 3 types of meat which my husband ordered and I ordered gnocci with cheese. Both dishes were huge,flavorful and served piping hot. We ordered some beer which was on tap and was served to us right away. The "gentle giant" came over and talked with us and was interested in where we were from and also spoke with the couple that shared their table with us. Later through conversation regarding where we were staying the couple lived on the same road where our B & B was and they were also related to the "gentle giant". This is a family run business, he is the son in law of the Lederer family who have owned the restaurant for years. We returned for a second night for dinner and were greeted in the same friendly manner and the food delicious. If you truly are looking for great Austrian food and hospitality, don't miss out on this delightful restaurant. We noticed that it was frequented by many locals which always is a good indication that the food is good."

"Behind the main road in the village on the bachstraße this restaurant is really a hidden gem. leo, your host is a charming hospitable who makes everyone special. the menu is varied, both local cuisine and international fayre. leo. also special foods for them. the food is excellent and the portions leave them certainly not want. the atmosphere is great with a mix of native and visitors, cross-table conversations are common, sharing with every experience and making recommendations. the small bar area is excellent for a pre- or after-feed drink and a great evening is usually rounded with a local snap. I would especially recommend the cordon blu and the petersilienkartoffeln. in any case a place to visit for great food, great hospitality and a great atmosphere."
