"We had our birthday celebration on Saturday night with about 90 guest and had a wonderful night.Zandra Dave and their friendly staff help to make it a night to remember the food was excellent as was the layout. We had several guests with food allergies and they all had their own separate platters and everyone remarked on how good everything was.We would recommend Josephines to anyone looking for a function venue. Thanks to all involved on the night for making it a fun night."

""Visit Volpino, one of the most casual, friendly Mornington peninsula restaurants..."In hindsight, I suppose my friends and I should have thrown this proclamation (quoted directly from Volpino's website), in the face of the oh-so-charming hostess who had clearly decided to exercise her 'right to refuse.'It was the Queen's birthday weekend holiday, and my husband and I, along with two friends, had spent the day driving around and exploring the peninsula. By sunset, an early dinner was appealing. To all appearances, Volpino's is a charming little place in Mount Martha. Nice view, pleasant ambience, and a decent variety on the menu. Sadly, that's all the four of us could say about the place itself, as our conversation with the hostess had all the charm of a stroll in the arctic, clad in beachwear:*The hostess walks up to the four of us, gives us a good old once-over*Hostess: Yes?Friend 01: Could we have a table for four, please?Hostess: Yes, you can sit outside.(It was 5 30 pm. Only three tables were occupied, leaving several 10 free tables inside. If all the tables had been reserved at that point, shouldn't she have asked the obvious question of whether or not we had a reservation?)Friend 01: But not in here?Hostess: You can sit outside but not in here.Friend 02: Um, is there heating outside? (It was a cold evening)Hostess: No. Would you like to sit outside?Friend 02. No, thanks. We were all itching to ask why we were so kindly given permission to dine outdoors but even at this point, we wanted to try and give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there was a dress code and we didn't comply? But there was no such notice, and the other patrons were dressed equally casually. Drunk and disorderly? If only -- we might have actually been able to laugh at the little incident. Maybe there were several early reservations? But even after we'd finally had dinner elsewhere and walked past Volpino's at around 6 30 pm, the place was nearly empty.None of us had encountered anything like this anywhere in Australia, and we've all lived here for quite a while now. Needless to say it put a dampener on an otherwise lovely weekend.Of course, at the restaurant, none of us were willing or crude enough to pull 'the race card' and it's still hard to raise the question. But would it clarify my review when I finally mention that none of us look Caucasian?"
