"Troisième visite dans ce petit restaurant à l'allure sympathique, mais comme lors de nos deux passages précédents, nous sortons déçus, marqués, par le service si désagréable... La cuisine est bonne, rien à redire à ce niveau là. Mais je ne comprends pas comment on peut être si peu aimable pour un restaurant aussi central (place principale) qui aurai tout pour plaire... que ce soit la serveuse, le patron ou à la caisse et ce à trois dates et heures différentes. Dommage donc !"

"It was a warm day and we needed a cold beer after visiting chateau de Breze nearby. We parked by the poste in Doue La Fontaine opposite what looked like an old sunken swimming pool, perhaps the town Spring once upon a time. We walked up into the town and on the road on the left saw several places to stop, we chose the last one on the right as its unbrellas looked so inviting. We had a drink and We were drawn to the 3 course lunch for about 12€. My husband had a delicious pate, I had a mixed pasta salad with lots of yummy things in it. We had steak frites with o joy, Madam's delicious runner bean type things gently steeped in garlic. Never tasted the like before or since.The place was quite busy, we ate outside at lunchtime, but there are plenty of spaces inside for an evening meal. Possibly the menu is more expensive in the evening.frenchLocal tradesmen ate there too. They must know a good thing. Le Patron speaks good English. With a few drinks and a delicious pud inside us we returned to our Eurocampsite near Saumur well pleased. I would definitely go there again if we came back another year. I wish them well."

"Saumur is such a beautiful place and on a warm summer evening the atmosphere in the main square which houses many restaurants is fabulous. This was our third visit to Tontons on each on last 3 trips to France. The menu is a mix of a fairly simple à la carte with some specials that can be mixed and matched. We were very fortunate to get an outside table having just turned up unannounced. We each had 3 courses and all the food was excellent. The wine was excellent too and I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Saumur."

"Although a wine bar, my husband enjoyed a couple of beers. I had Cremant. Obviously large selection of wine and friendly, attentive, staff to advise/recommend. We also had a selection of cheese which was very good."

"La curiosité paie ! Ne pas hésiter à rentrer dans ce petit pub ou l ambiance est conviviale et les deux patrons y sont pour quelque chose. Un choix qualitatif de bières et avec la possibilité de manger sur place...Merci pour cette fin de soirée avec de bonnes bières et un agréable échange"
