"Well, I didn't think this pub could get worse than it was before the new team. It did. I will not get bored with the bad sides as the other last reviews already have. Oh, there is definitely one thing that got worse, the staff!, Curt, inconspicuous,...sometimes at the cache in the corner while you wait unattended at the bar. And God knows who the manager is. I won't go again, and before people say that there are problems with employees, go to the Amhurst Inn, or any other decent pub. I tried to be a customer, but abandoned."

"We've been going here for years (my Hubby loves the beer and so does my dad as he has a gluten allergy and they brew all the beer gluten free! Recently I ordered a case for fathers day delivery direct to my dad in Essex, unfortunately, it went missing in the hands of DHL! They despatched another case which DHL picked up a day late so the brewery were extremely apologetic and they kindly offered to deliver another case to us for free. My dad is now enjoying his cans of double stout!!"

"Bases on the positive Tripadvisor reviews, and the look of the place through the window, my partner and I gave this place a go. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a let down. The food was bland at best. The garlic bread with cheese was not pleasant at all and left us with a bitter taste. The calamari was also tasteless and saved only by the garlic mayonnaise. My risotto main was slightly better but again, failed to inspire, with the porcini mushrooms just a mush. The other main (carbonara) was poor by all accounts. All that and two beers for around £80 when a trip to Pizza Express would have yielded better food for around £55. When we go out, we want the food to be better than what we serve up at home. In this case it was well off the mark."

"Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere, also very inviting. Went on a Friday evening. I believe the food selection is different on a Sunday but its a good idea to call and ask depending on what day it is, also good to check if booking is needed incase. During winter the weekly selection of food is varied so good idea to ask when calling. You can eat inside or out as plenty of space and the gardens are very well kept, the area inside to the back of the building is all glass and also a lovely area to eat in. Looking forward to going again as I recommend highly to all who haven't been yet."
