"My husband and I were going to be in Asheville for Christmas so we made our dinner reservations through OpenTable the week before. When we got there at we were told they didn't have any reservations available until I told them I had reservations and they were made through OT. The host said Oh, well we can't get into our OpenTable reservation site. But, they did go ahead and seat us, even though we felt a little like they didn't believe us. I had called several days before to find out what would be on the menu and was told they would be serving from the regular menu. After looking at it online, we decided we would go ahead make our reservations. When we were seated, the waitress said Go ahead to the buffet when you are ready. Buffet? We weren't told of a buffet but we thought a Christmas buffet might be nice so we proceeded up there. Much to our great shock and disappointment, there was a bowl of mixed greens and salad toppings, a pan of mixed vegetables, a pan of mashed potatoes and our choice of salmon and roast beef that looked like it was leftover from the day before and was sliced about mm thick. It was dry and tough. There was a selection of different pies for dessert. Then, to top it off, it was apiece! We were both extremely disappointed in our Christmas dinner We would have made reservations elsewhere if we had known this was what we were going to be served. We could have even gone to Bob Evans for a turkey and dressing dinner which would have been a lot tastier and a lot cheaper. Needless to say, we will not be going back to The Writer's Bistro nor will we be recommending it to anyone else"

"Very good breakfast place. short as usual waiting time for an breakfast place in asheville at the weekend. the staff was friendly and great. eating was great. large vegetarian options, cookies and vegan gravy were a great side, and my breakfast dish was great. they claim to be a farm to table place, and this is likely based on the fresh ingredients and the list of local farms and providers they use. I decided to try the chocolate milk, because I never had anything like that before, and was super cheated that it was a tiny glass, maybe 2.5 high and a few ounces. would have jumped over if I knew the amount for the price. everything in everything, very recommended. expect them to spend $20-25 per person with a main meal, side and drink, before drinking."

"I was fairly impressed with Early Girl Eatery. My party stopped in for breakfast. There was a 15 minute wait which is fair for a popular breakfast restaurant on a Sunday. The vibe here is decent, as well. I was a bit thrown off by the portion size Ireceived. It wasn't particularly small, but for the price and what was supposed to be included it felt a smidge on the lightside. However, the quality was there. Wonderful flavors and a nice blend of different textures. The service seemed a bitchaotic. We had three different people come by our table at random times and none of them seemed to know who our server was.It's a busy place, so it's reasonable that these things happen. The food came out fairly quickly and the tea I ordered wasbetter than regular store bought. I would definitely try this place again, maybe on a day/time where they likely wouldn't be asbusy."
