"A wee bit out of town (a couple of tram stops from Steintor; at Christuskirche), but worth making the effort. Not a traditional looking place; in fact, with its big windows and mezzanine floor, it's quite a modern setting, but there's a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It was pretty near full when we were there, which is a good sign for sure, and it's well set out, so there's no feeling of being crowded. The food was very good (we had a main course only) and the portions were adequate, with the meat being served in a separate dish so you could regulate your intake of sauce/gravy/juice to go with your rice (potatoes or vegetables as options). Howerver, the menu would be better, I think, if there were some veg side dishes offered in adition to rice or potatoes (instead of being alternative). Nevertheless, my partner was very kindly offered a combination of potatoes and veg, which was a nice concession. We had a bottle of Georgian wine (Kindzmarauli red; a Besini wine - look it up) and that was excellent, albeit sweeter than the 'halbtrocken' suggested. Would certainly go back, given the opportunity and an excuse."

"Das Mephisto hat im 1. OG einen großen Partyraum mit separaten Sanitäranlagen, der zwar bei Tageslicht nicht gerade hygienisch rein daher kommt und noch die Patina der Veranstaltungen der vergangenen Jahre trägt. Aber am Abend und in der Nacht bei Partybeleuchting merkt man nicht soviel davon, so dass der Raum samt Theke sich grundsätzlich für eine größere Party gut eignet. Es ist eine Zapfsnlage vorhanden und der Raum kann ohne Inanspruchnahme der Leistungen des darunter befindlichen Restaurants gemietet werden. Nicht akzeptabel ist jedoch, dass sich der Wirt und Vermieter nicht an Absprachen hält und offensichtlich ein Problem mit der Nachbarschaft und ggf. Polizei hat. Obwohl vorher klar kommuniziert, dass es sich um eine Party zum 18. Geburtstag handelt und dass auch Alkoholika ausgeschenkt werden und ein Ende gegen 3 bis 4 h vereinbart ist, wird die Veranstaltung vom Wirt gegen 1 h unter Hinweis auf ein Erscheinen der Polizei abgebrochen. Der Wirt kann sich an die oben genannten Absprachen nicht erinnern und tut überrascht, dass hier Alkohol ausgeschenkt wird.Konkret ist nichts vorgefallen, es war nicht zu laut, es gab keine Schlägerei und alles noch im Rahmen. Wichtig ist dem Schreiber an dieser Stelle jedoch, dass der Vermieter den guten Glauben der Mieter ausnutzt und und nicht vorher sagt, was aus seiner Sicht geht und was nicht. Und dafür vorweg das ganze, nicht geringe Honorar kassiert.Das nennt man abgezockt !!!Das finden wir frech und können wir nicht weiter empfehlen. Also alle Partyfreudigen lasst die Finger vom Mephisto in Misburg !!!"
