"I enjoyed the burritos I have gotten at this location, no bad experiences from multi visits. There are multiple days with a cheaper burrito option if you just want to try something new. My personal favorites are the ancho pork or spicy chicken with black beans."

"Outstanding food! This is Saskatoon's best Asian restaurant. We've read a lot of service complaints, but honestly can't say we have experienced this and we're here fairly often. It's the Sichuan cuisine (the style which comes out of southwestern China) that they are particularly good at, so we tend to focus on that. There's lots of Garlic, Chili Peppers, Chili Oil and Sichuan pepper in those dishes.Prepare for uncompromised ethnic food: Offerings like pig ear, lotus root, squid tentacles, tripe in a variety of sauces - as well as some items we had never encountered (e.g.: mala pot) populate an extensive menu that also includes many of the classics (e.g.: ginger beef; kung pao chicken; sichuan green beans - you get the picture). Our first trip here was with two of our best friends in Saskatoon are restaurateurs who grew up in Malaysia. Food is always part of our all-too-infrequent get togethers, so we were intrigued when they suggested we meet them at Oriental Aroma for lunch. This small restaurant opened very near our house, but for some reason we had never dropped in for a meal - though perhaps the rather unassuming storefront situated on a very busy intersection (Clarence Ave. and 8th St.) left us with the impression that this was just another of Saskatoon's all too common mediocre Chinese restaurants. We couldn't have been more wrong!One of the most special parts of our first visit was having a lamb dish, which wasn't on the menu and our friends ordered in Mandarin as a favour. We consider ourselves lucky to have gotten a taste. The lamb came in strips, tender and juicy. One of the dominant spices was cumin, and a curry-like Szechuan sauce. Wonderful thin strips of sweet peppers and onions. So unique, we've never tasted anything like it.On our first visit we walked away awe struck and kicking ourselves for judging a book by it's cover... or in this case a restaurant by it's location. This is truly an ethnic gem for Saskatoon. We love you Yip Hongs, and will return especially for your dim sum, but as far as uncompromising, unique offerings, Oriental Aroma has won our hearts. We're so pleased it's in our neighbourhood and will be returning with our camera as we work our way through the menu.THE INDIVIDUAL DISHES:- Our Favorites: 5 Spice Beef In Chili Oil, Sichuan Style Chicken, Hot Hot Hot Fish, Mala Hot Pot, Ribs with TeaTree Mushroom Hot Pot, Deep Fried Chicken with Sichuan Chili Peppers, Squid Tentacles, Sichuan green beans, Spicy Bean Curd Salad, Crispy Pork with Shrimp- Awesome Off the Menu Goodies: These aren't on the menu but if you ask, they will come! Braised TeaTree (just the mushrooms), Mushrooms, Craw Fish, Dessert Corn Fritters- Like It: Shrimp in Peach Sauce, Pork Tenderloin Stir FryNote for home cooks: We often get left over chili sauces to go, a common request here. In fact, you can come in and just order the sauces to go. It's so good we serve them with oven baked chicken, poach fish in them, drizzle over steamed fish, use them in stir fry dished or on top of rice bowls.5 Spice Beef in Chili Oil:While we had input, our friends took care of the ordering (in Mandarin). When the food started to arrive we knew we were in for a feast. The appetizer was a delicious, perfectly executed sliced beef with five spices and hot chili oil - with BIG chunks of fresh garlic. The beef was well marbled and served cold, and the chili oil was so addictive we poured it over our rice so as not to miss a drop. Absolutely wonderful.Been Curd Salad: Served cold. Been curd is like a firm tofu. This dish lots of green and red peppers, whole peanuts, crunchy cilantro stems, and chunks of garlic, all mixed with a medium hot chili oil. The flavors are lovely and bright on the palate, and there are a lot of crunchy textures. If we don't bite into the big dried peppers, we don't find it too hotRice: steaming hot rice comes in a large ramekin of tasty, firm white rice (it had a nice, gentle nutty flavour) is the perfect accompaniment to all of their mains. The rice is kept nice and warm throughout by the ceramic ramekin - a nice change from the cheap plastic tubs that one encounters almost everywhere else, which helped the rice stay warm as we ate.Beef Fried Rice: This does not feel like day-old rice that was fried. It's silky and fresh tasting, and the portion is quite large. Cooked with a mild soy, a reasonable amount of beef, some egg, small cubed onion and carrot, with peas. A nice touch is a bit of rock salt that is delicately mixed into the dish.Spicy squid tentacles with crispy, hot veggies. The spices were delicate and rich at the same time, and the squid itself had a fascinating crunchy/tender texture. First bite led us to think that the tentacles would chewy, but they were not at all - just nice and tender and tasty. We could have eaten just this and been happy.Mala pot: This one was new to us, and we loved every bite. There was a large variety of vegetables - including large slices of delicious, crunchy lotus root (mmmm, mmmm, good), sweet peppers, and seaweed. The pot also features some delicious chunks of pork ribs with a crunchy coating soaked in the hot, spicy mala sauce. This sauce is so unique it's hard to describe the taste. Laced with lots and lots of Szechuan peppercorns, cloves, star anise, garlic, and something called douban paste (a fermented broad bean paste), this sauce is heavenly.Sichuan green beans with chili peppers and ground pork: We're giant fans of stir fried green beans, and a bit particular about the dish. This one used very fresh, very large, and very sweet green beans and overall was a very tasty complement to the other dishes. Our only quibble, and it's a small one, is that we would have liked a bit more garlic and ground pork with the beans.Shrimp in Peach Sauce: Tasty canned peach slices with big shrimp, very lightly dusted with just enough costing just to add a little extra crunch to the texture. The sauce is a sweet and tangy sauce, with lots of sweet green and red pepper and mild white onion. We are the left overs with roasted crushed chili oil, and it was awesome! This is a good dish for those who don't like overly exotic food.Fried Shrimp Dumplings: These are unique in their simplicity - the filling is straight up minced shrimp, absolutely nothing else added! Since the shrimp were so sweet and well cooked they don't really need anything else. The wonton wrap was lovely, crispy and light, not too greasy. Served with their lovely aioli, which is just slightly sweet - so yummy we've tried to pull the recipe out of the staff with no success!Pork Tenderloin Stir Fry: Breaded, but not crunchy, pieces of rich tasting pork tenderloin with red pepper, cooked cucumber with a bit of woodear mushrooms and a light tasting sauce."
