"In planning our barn wedding my wife and I knew having delicious and amazing food was important to us, but Dani and the Rooted Spoon staff surpassed all of our expectations. After first learning about the Rooted Spoon, we stopped by their 219 Drinkery location one night after scoping out our wedding venue and we fell in love instantly. Not only did they serve up an amazing cocktail list, but the curry popcorn they had was so fantastic that we (okay I requested it as a must have at our wedding. So we talked to our bartender about how we could go about getting our wedding catered and she gave us Dani's card. When we first reached out little did we know we were about to meet the kindest, most energetic, and flexible person you could possibly ever hope to encounter in planning a wedding menu. Not only did she design a delicious menu, but she was an absolute pleasure to work with. Our wedding reception was less than traditional I mean this in sense that we just wanted an informal offering of small plates throughout the night in place of a sit down dinner. Dani went out of her way to help ensure that this is exactly what we got. She even went as far as to make some simple macaroni and cheese for the kids and was kind enough to design a mini cake that matched the deserts for us to cut. In fact our wedding planning experience with her was so great that my parents decided to reach out to her and planned the rehearsal dinner to be at their 219 Drinkery location. And let me just say that by the end of planning that my mother felt like she had a new best friend. The rehearsal dinner was to die for. The food was amazing and the entire wedding party and our families were so impressed by the quality of the food and service from the staff. Months later the food from that night is still mentioned. And finally that brings us to the main event. On our wedding day it rained...okay it rained a lot (Thanks a lot Alanis Morissette. And guess what, it was also the first event that Dani and her staff ever had to cater in the rain. But they were awesome about it. For our wedding they were grilling food on site, and they just made it happen and were out grilling in the rain and it went on without a hitch! And let's not forget to mention the food; it was outstanding! Everywhere we looked we could see our guests holding plates and lining up for more throughout the night. People are still raving about it. I think as the bride and groom, the one thing my wife and I wished we could have done more of that night was eat more of the food. Everything was delicious, and the strawberry rhubarb jam almond thumbprint cookies were out of this world good. We have some frozen for our one year in our freezer, and it's taking all of our will power not to indulge in them. In short I honestly cannot say enough good things about Dani and the staff at the Rooted Spoon. They not only surpassed all our dreams in catering our wedding this past April, but they also hosted a fabulous rehearsal dinner at their 219 Drinkery location. Both events were unforgettable and amazing! I look forward to hopefully having the pleasure to dine with them again soon and would recommend them to anyone in the Wisconsin area looking to have their wedding catered with delicious, locally sourced, amazing food.
