"This small and very well established cafe tells a tale of the good old days, when people used to meet for coffee to do business, to solve problems and to talk science fiction. Simple, nothing fancy, full of people from all walks of live. The Barrista seems to be Mr. Donato, he blends in so well, he's part of the decor. His experience must be running for decades. The ambiance and the feel of this coffee shop is five star, the only thing that puts it down is the coffee, it ain't bad, but for such an institution, I'd expect better. My espresso no sugar was watery, quite bitter with the taste of unfiltered Melbourne tap water. Most people however bastardise coffee with so much milk and sugar, they would not be able to identify these rather disturbing details. Therefore; if you are a Latte-person, you'd give it a better rating. For an espresso, go elsewhere, unless you love to sit in just to experience an old and simple cafe."

"Your staff at the start of the evening service should be a little more vibrant, however serving clients that arrive after you first is a big no-no, especially if they are seated at the next table. The food was nice, and the staff did not appear to be interested too much. I want to give them another opportunity, as I hope it was only a one-off night."

"I visited Rudimentary today with a group of friends; travelled all the way from Moorabbin to eat here as we were told good reviews. Absolutely nothing to rave about - food was average, coffee was average. I couldn't tell whether the staff working there were genuine or condescending as I watched them serve customers with smiles but openly discuss and judge customers behind the counter with one another. Wouldn't go back again, nothing special or significant about Rudimentary."

"This restaurant was overpriced when the mains were $20 cheaper. Came back hoping for an improvement but should not have bothered. The ambience is good but the food is nothing special and for the prices, you would want it to be. There are many places to eat in Melbourne that provide a much better experience."

"Feedme @ Chapel Street is a must visit joint for a healthy option. We tried Hot Mexican spud and it was real good.The portion size is huge and all ingredients are absolutely fresh. The Broccoli soup and Ceasar's salad were also good. I would definitely like to recommend it specially for vegetarians. My request to the management is to consider making the spud available in small portion for times when you are not very hungry but would like a healthy snack."
