"Despite arriving very late, we had a delicious octopus and bean stew. Maybe the best octopus we've ever eaten. Very cheap family restaurant. The cook/mother came to talk to us, but would not divulge her recipe!"

"We stopped here for a drink today, and certainly can’t complain about our bill of €2.40 for a glass of wine and a bottle of water. It just seemed a bit dour though; it’s just a few yards from the busy main road, the terrace is in permanent shade, the service was amiable but not over friendly ‘no carafe, only glass....’ and it just seems to lack a good reason to go there. So we probably won’t again."

"This is one of the best low cost restaurants in Tavira. Food is just simply superb. We ate here most day's and I will guarantee you will not be disappointed The cost of the freshly made food was ridiculously low as was the drinks The freshly caught fish is cooked on an outside barbecue and is usually Sea Bass or Sea Bream, although they also do fresh Tuna A meal for two with drinks will set you back just under 30 euro's The lunch time restaurant closes at 3 however, I would recommend that you try and get seated before 1 as the service is fairly laid back, not to be confused with slow! The restaurant also does a great selection of meat, and chicken dishes so it caters for all tastes"

"This review is for the restaurant Ze Maria on the Tavira island.Octopus salad was ok. I had a beef steak and my wife had tuna steak. Oh my god, the amount of salt they put in the meal makes you very suspicious. Also something of a plastic nature came out of my wife's dish. Waiter did not care, couldn't care. Full of flies. Overall, Tavira needs another 5 to 10 years to get ready for tourism. Firstly they need to learn to smile and show some sort of enthusiasm about what they are doing and learn that the customer is always right within reason."
