"THE best fried shrimp house in Philadelphia. Easily found on North Broad street, on a corner property, Lit up the white building has a walk up window. Every order is made to order. Served on a bed of ruffled chips, they are hot and crispy. Make sure youorder fries as a side order. Unfortunately I don't know what else they're making, but the shrimp is wonderful and mouthwatering. Parking is Not convenient as there is no lot. On street parking is the only option available. Open late, till 2AM.CASH ONLY!"

"I have been there a few times and the food is a good deal for the price. What they do they do well. Now the next part is for the ambience. It is very tight-knit seating you're practically on each other's laps with maybe six to eight inches between tables. They couldn't get one more table in the place and it's high decibels it would really be difficult going and carrying on a conversation with someone when it gets going loud. So if you're looking for a rather quiet atmosphere with a little privacy this is not your place."

"Went for opening day on Saturday. The lines were short, as it was not full like years past. The prices and selections remain the same. Seats were available outside and inside the restaurants. We were disappointed that we could not order off of any restaurant menus during the game. We only could get hood-heated pizza, fries, steak, ect., instead of a meal. The cleaner attempted to clear our beers and food, without asking, while we were cheering with our neighbor table, while we still we not finished. We of course did not want any of it then, as she was grasping the tops with her used gloves. They ran a trivia contest that was mysteriously won. A woman fell while leaving and the beer girl at the front did not even get down to help/call anyone. This was not what our experiences have been in the past."

"Beautiful that kalaya is back. eating is unique, tasty and the portions are very plentiful. the owner even spoke to us from the order “too much food” and she was right. we felt very safe. they order by downloading the menu, choose their choices and then pay very efficiently and safely. this is one of our favorite restaurants in philly. they do not serve water, they must buy a bottle of water. another concession to safety. this probably also helps her lower line, but it is not a problem. Just keep in mind that eating can be spicy for some palate and there is no adjustment of the level of flavor - it comes as the cook wants it to be served. if they like spicy unusual and well prepared dishes, this place is worth a try."
