"I had The Trinity (pictured), which is a large bowl of moderately spicy gumbo, with chicken, shrimp and Andouille sausage. The service was friendly, polite, and fast. The spice of the gumbo was a good, happy medium, the quantities of meat were generous, the prices seemed pretty reasonable, the gumbo was served very hot, and kept its heat, which I feel bodes well for return visits in the Fall Winter Spring, in particular, as well as for the freshness of carry out or delivery orders. When I prepare gumbo, I like it a bit thicker, and with plenty of okra in it, as it is one of my favorite seasonings. Just personal preference. I think Mumbo Gumbo 's is a slightly different style of gumbo than I am used to; forgive my ignorance, but I believe theirs is a 'dark roux? ' Definitely didn 't see any chunks of okra, and I don 't think I tasted any, but they do have other menu items, which do specify that they contain it, so I will definitely be back to try one or more of those, and if they are good, will probably bump the rating up to five stars, as cajun food is fun, but seems to be uncommon, in Portland."
