"We were on vacation to Charleston and Poogan's Porch was the restaurant I selected as a special treat on our last night in town. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The room was LOUD and it was hard to converse with my husband. I wish I had asked to be moved to a different room or section. We sat in silence quite often as it was hard to talk loud enough to be heard. We were seated at a small table for two so we were not next to each other but across the table. We had left overs and our waiter packed them up nicely and kindly included a couple of the delicious biscuits. Overall, it was a nice experience/meal."

"I showed up at this lovely waterfront place without a reservation. They said I could sit at the bar and warned me that the kitchen was "at capacity" and it might be a while before I could get my food.nevertheless, the service was friendly and as it turned out pretty speedy. They started me off with an amuse bouche of pea soup which was literally the best pea soup I have ever had. It was like eating the essence of pea. I followed this up with some sushi – toro-which was among the best I have ever had, and I had just returned from Japan two weeks previously. The main course – sablefish – was to die for. absolutely fresh, perfectly cooked, with a sauce made of quinoa and something else I could not identify but that had my taste buds standing up and swaying like the choir at the climax of a gospel church service. The chef, who I understand is Peruvian, is a true magician.in addition the wine pairing, a New Zealand sauvignon blanc, was perfect.Really, this is world-class food, and I should know since I just traveled around the world. Two big thumbs up!"
