"Walking towards the entrance, I saw that there were no lights on in this establishment. But the open sign was lit up, so I checked to see if the door was open. Then I walked in to placed my order, the customer service was horrible! I told the cook I want a three-piece dinner plate and a six piece dinner plate. Then I told him my sides for the three-piece fish plate(greens) which comes with it and that I wanted a separate side of coleslaw. I was mocked for mixing up the names of a 3 piece fish plate, and the 6 piece fish dinner. The cook even yelled to the cashier, to verify the names of said menu items. The cook also asked another cook. It does say three-piece fish dinner on the menu doesn 't it?(sarcasm) Then he said I just need your fish order so I can cook it! She needs to know what sides you want, pointing to the cashier. The cashier raised her hands and said, well I 'm helping these two customers . They were over there, talking ! The cashier was talking about myself and my mother who 's on the phone. She was giving her order to you , and she was saying all of this to The cook in my presence! Mind you I was on the phone with my mother she just said she wanted a six piece fish dinner. So while all of this is happening I was holding my cell phone my ear. But there was no talking! He did this as if I wasn 't there. Neither one of these employees tried to take a brief moment and really assist me with the names of the menu items. They just talked to me sarcastically, and mocked me while I tried to put in my order. I obviously wasn 't supposed to be ordering my food with the Cook. I am assuming the cashier was supposed to take the order. But I was never corrected. He took my order as if it was a part of his job. Needless to say, I just left! This just look like this was an argument waiting to happen about something as simple as an order of fish. I was not going to spend my money where the Customer Service was terrible! Also both employees looked like they had a long night of alcohol consumption or some vice. Weird!"

"I would not say Cajun/Creole food is in the rule my way too, but after reading the yelp reviews this place when I decide where to eat on union market, I was sold. my man and I shared the etoufèe and brown butter bourbon bread puddin." I highly recommend both! the sauce on the etoufèe was so tasteful. I would recommend sharing the brotpudding. we got the little one and it was a pretty big part and very full. I wouldn't be able to finish this all by myself. this place is worth checking when they are on union market!"

"Before I continue with my review, I must mention that I love supporting local, small businesses. My intention on leaving a less than four star review (I would have left 2.5 stars, but rounded up) is never to jeopardize the reputation of the restaurant. However, as a consumer that appreciates honest reviews, I must leave truthful feedback.My experience is a reflection of a carry out order from last week. Here were a few concerns that I had.1. You may want to call before you go to The Blacksmith. According to their Google Hours they are open until 9:30pm, and I called between 7-7:30pm to place an order for carry out. I was respectfully informed that my order needs to be placed by 8pm because they were slow, and would be closing early. I was surprised to hear this as they open at 4pm. Unreliable hours are something that as a customer I can get frustrated with (especially if it's not noted on their Google Business Profile). On another occasion, my husband and I wanted to go there for a date night at around the same time in the evening, and were turned away (this was a couple of months ago).2. Their menu may not be a reliable source of information.As part of my order, I got a side salad.What I was expecting as detailed exactly by their menu: SIDE SALAD Greens, tomato, cucumbers, red onions, eggs, cheese blend and croutons What I received: Greens with a couple of chunks of cucumbers.I was also surprised that the side salad was $5. Very sub par quality for what the price is. I would pay $5 for a great side salad, but I wouldn't have even expected to pay $1.50 for what I received.3. I also tried the Ribeye Steak Sandwich. I was looking forward to a larger, tender piece of meat on a fresh hoagie, but was disappointed when I received small, not-so-tender pieces of meat on a dry hoagie bun.4. Their French Onion Soup was a plus for me! It was not too salty, and had a hint of sweetness to it. And I believe it would have been even better if I had eaten it in the restaurant!I am hoping that my experience isn't an accurate representation of The Blacksmith as I had high hopes for a well marketed, nice restaurant."
