"Had a marvellous time at Sala de estar in Huaraz. The food is excellent and everything is homemade. We went there three times and tried among others the pizzas, the quinoa salad, the (homemade! pastas as well as the chicken soup and also some deserts. The quality of the food is great and service very friendly. Highly recommend after a long trekking day!"

"Ate here twice. Came specifically for the brauts. The curry wurst was exceptional, and the reason I came back the next day. I live in Germany a few decades ago and it seemed I was taken back. Only tried the wursts, so can't speak to other options, but was very happy with those."

"The place was full of thick smoke as we entered the door 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. The waiter welcomed us and opened the windows to let the oven smoken out. There's something wrong with the oven's airflow they need to sort out but they really use wood to heat up the oven so props for that.We were the second customers but soon Pizza BB was packed with no free tables! Only a few Western tourists that evening besides us and it looked like the restaurant is popular with the locals.As we returned from Pisco climb I opted for a big pizza with some tomatoes, onions and salami while my better half had llomo steak with pasta. Both were quality food and we ended up with empty plates. We also shared the garlic bread and mixed salad starters - nothing wrong with either portions. Before Pisco I had a pizza at ex-El Horno which was slightly dissapointing but this pizza had everything right.House red wine was familiar from the Mountain basecamps: Clos de Chacra from cardboard container. It actually tasted better cold in the basecamps tent than served slightly warmer in the restaurant.Lots of customers, but the food kept on coming at a steady pace, tables were cleaned quickly and customers were served when they needed something. I'd say this was a good quality restaurant compared to several others in Huaraz.Next time we'll try their sashlik-kebab things which someone in another tables seemed to have. Those looked pretty good as well.Recommended!"

"There was several vegan option for every dish (3 types of Thai curry, several Indian curries and fajitas) with tofu and veggies. We had the tofu korma which was possibly the best korma I’ve ever had. It was confirmed vegan, made with coconut milk and cashews. We also had the fajitas vegan if you ask without the cheese and sour cream. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend."

"We were given a recommendation for here from a fellow gringo and it certainly lived up to the hype. The bread and dips they serve when you sit are amazing. I tried the chicken in mushroom sauce which came with a fresh salad and chips. The portion was huge. Others in the group got pasta carbonara which went down very well too. However what stole the show was the pumpkin soup which was the perfect taste of home. Put this on your list if you are in Huaraz, you will not be disappointed. Also, go very hungry, my biggest regret is not having space for all the amazing desserts!"

"Very nice little restaurant that a Belgian chef ( Kristof )and his wife ( Pilar ) opened in January 2008. Specialty of the house are smoked trout, fresh pastas, Maceration of fruit in Pisco ( Famous Peruvian alcohol ), Wholewheat bread, and a lot more. From time to time the chef prepares something new so every time you visit there is a surprise. Ask the chef just something to eat indicating only your kind of food you like or more the flavors you like and be surprised. The interior is very nice a lot of wood very rustic and the charming part of it is that it is very little only 3 tables and about 6 barstools. In the evening it converts a little bit in to a pub you can ask almost any kind of music ( an amazing collection of music ). TO VISIT WHEN YOUR IN HUARAZOh not to forget: People who have traveled know the stomach problems you can have, well they have some simple herbs to prepare infusions that will help you pretty fast and safe."
