They have really good espresso and a decent choice of cakes, among them vegan ones too, and small snacks like sandviches with various fillings. "The Eisgrub is one of the well-known locations in Mainz. It is well located in the city centre of Mainz, not directly in the large shopping street, but nevertheless easy to reach. In addition to the outdoors, which are beautiful, but unfortunately located directly on the street, there is enormous space inside and yet at certain times it is anything but easy to catch a free table. This speaks for itself, because the ice grub is a really recommended address. Especially at this shop he offers his own brewed beer, the Eisgrub Bräu . You can order the barley juice in towers and pin it off yourself! Great thing! The best thing is that it still tastes good. : P Drinking can be a beer in a really beautiful atmosphere, it is really a cozy ambience in which you feel comfortable and also like to come back. Of course, hunger is also taken care of, there are various dishes that you can order. I haven't tried everything yet, but if I had eaten there, I was still satisfied. I find the opportunity to attend breakfast in the ice-grub in the morning. For a single-digit fixed amount you can use and enjoy at the buffet. "During my two weeks in Mainz, I have tried numerous restaurants and Zum Goldstein was amongst my top choices for those what concerned German-style cuisine. I was there with a few colleagues and we managed to have seats outside (it was summer time), in a lovely patio. We tried numerous options from the menu, including appetizers and various species of mains courses (both non-vegetarian and vegetarian choices). All meals were perfectly cooked, delicious and generous. The service was excellent and the price, whilst a bit on the high side, is definitely OK. To finish, I would like to emphasize an important detail: consider booking a table, as the restaurant is often crowded (we tried to go there twice without booking any table, and there was no space for us). Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant for a great German cuisine experience."
