"We ate twice at Ristorante il Covo: first at lunch and another day at dinner. My wife declared If we lived here, this would be my favorite restaurant. Il Covo has a simple menu of about 6 appetizers, 6 first courses ,6 mains, plus a selection of pizzas. No pizza for us, but everything else was excellent. My sweetheart ordered an outstanding bowl of gnudi: a flourless gnocchi made with spinach and ricotta cheese. It was served with a cheesy cream sauce and topped with pistachio nuts. She made the slipper ' and mopped her bowl clean with a slice of bread. The pici pasta with a tomato sauce spiked aglione (a local variety of large garlic) was hearty and filling. The white bean soup is simply outstanding. This is a thick and creamy broth perfectly seasoned and still lets the flavor of the humble beans come through. Salmon is not a native Italian fish, by wife 's fillet encrusted with pistachios was nice. My beef stewed in a local red wine was dark, hearty, and delicious. The walls in Il Covo also act as the wine cellar. Just browse the shelves and select a wine that appeals to you. Most of the wines are priced less than 30 euros per bottle"

"My cousin was our guest and I wanted to look for a good restaurant in montepulciano. I trusted tripadvisor reviews and went to this restaurant and I can only share everything I read. the location is beautiful, the equipment is cared for and reflects the place (a beautiful wooden undertone at each sitting with engraved sweet words that refer to the family and the kitchen). I really enjoyed the service, especially the touch of augoto (probably the owner) that makes you sit in his place and tells you even his recipes. friendly and friendly is really a pleasant person. The food is something exceptional my cousin took the peas to the aglione and I loved it very much, I and my sister a cut with porcini (the porcini were delicious and with very good I did not praise him enough) and once again augoto explained the raw material, its origin and even its conservation. In short, a real tasting. The price is absolutely accessible and I really feel only that this chicca is located from firenze because it is an experience that I would like to relive."

"I have the chance to travel to Montepulciano quite often and this little restaurant is always one of my must . The place is quite small and very family like .The menu changes every day, maybe it does not offer the choice of bigger places in the area and at a first glance it must not appear as smart as others but you will definitely eat simple genuine homemade food prepared by Marcella, the owner, from the first course to the dessert. If you have the chance to go there do not miss to taste her handmade Pici , the typical pasta of this part of Italy, she makes them on her own and cooks them with bread crumbs, meat sauce and my favourit all aglione i.e. fresh tomato and garlic sauce... The prices are in a normal range. I do recommend this place, maybe you will have to wait a bit between one course and the other since the lady runs the place and cooks on her own, but you will not regret it !!!"
