"The original room (467) that we booked (exclusive) was not as it should be: stool on the wall and curtains, bathroom smelled of stool and urine. Informed the desk and Rachel was very unfriendly and everything was too much to ask her. Finally had to return to the room again to wait for a maid. She only spoke French and solved the problem with an air freshener. And said that the stool had already absorbed into the paper of the wall and she could not replace it. Returned to the counter and asked if I could get another exclusive room as this did not solve the problem. We were first told that there were no other rooms available. I then asked for my money back and wanted to leave. It was only because I wanted to leave that Rachel decided to call the manager. He said that I could not get my money back because I had already checked in. He looked at the planner again and gave us a room. Once at the top of room (471) we see that we have ended up in a standard room. No apology was given for the inconvenience nor a refund due to a different room. The breakfast itself is anything but fresh, except for the scrambled eggs. In the hallway of our room there was a puddle of urine for the entire morning (read: from 7:45 AM 12:00 PM). The spa part is also not okay. Work is in progress. Where the electrical wires hang open and exposed near the water part. The safety of their customers is not high on their priorities. Staff working in the hotel are far too young and not sufficiently trained. And if as staff you have to hang up the following text openly and visible to all customers, something is wrong. The text goes like this: be kind to every customer, because they pay your wages"

"This is a great place to stop in for a warm bowl of soup and a nice espresso on a rainy day in Ostende. I had a broccoli soup and an espresso, both were very good. They even have me a tiny cookie with the espresso, along with a milk chocolate and a little orange taffy. The tables are mostly two person and the atmosphere is casual, though it is a sit down and order from your table kind of place. It's a great little cafe and I would definitely come here again! The service was okay but not outstanding, they mostly do their job and leave you alone, which is fine with me but I was hoping they would offer me another bread when mine disappeared so quickly with the warm soup. Lots of older couples here on a Monday, which is cute. The prices are not bad, 6 euros for soup and espresso. Great location also, close to shops, so a great place to stop for a light lunch if you're shopping."
