"This is a typical, local Portuguese family style resaurant with no airs and graces. Food is piled high and sold cheaply and served with little finesse. I think it caters rather more for the locals who seem to know the names of the enormous piles of food that arrived on their tables. We had sardines which took an age to arrive but were tasty. I would not eat the bread served in a basket as we could see the waitresses emptying uneaten bread back into the bread sack and then scooping out a basket for the next customer. Little English is spoken. All in all it was quite an experience, the sardines were well cooked and tasty but I probably would not revisit were I to be in the area again!"

"This restaurant is one street back from the beach front in Póvoa de Varzim. It’s very busy mostly with locals who obviously know where to get good, tasty and reasonably priced food. Specialising in perfectly cooked seafood and some meat dishes. The portions are huge, so order a couple of dishes to share. I can recommend the grilled sardines, the house style bacalhau (salt cod) and the roasted goat. All delicious. Good selection of wines available. There were a selection of homemade deserts that looked good, but I was too full to attempt them. There is nothing ‘fancy’ about this restaurant. It’s small and the tables are neatly squeezed in. The busy waiters are very pleasant and welcoming and deserve their tips."

"Arlecchino is our favorite Restaurant in Póvoa de Varzim. We moved from Berlin to Póvoa last year and we wouldn't know where to go without this place. Everything tastes amazing, the pasta, the pizza and also the desserts. We tried almost everything on the menu and I haven't had a single dish I didn't enjoy. My favorite dish is the fresh pasta with prawns, zucchini and a creamy sauce The restaurant is run by an italian family. The service is very friendly and welcoming. For lunch they offer a very fair priced menu with daily changing dishes. Arlecchino is clear recommendation!"
