"This is my second visit to The Goshawk. My friend was visiting from 78 miles away and myself 39 miles away and this was between the two of us. I was so impressed the first time I went with local friends, that I really wanted to take my other friend there too. We were served by Daisy, Ffion Jasmine. From the moment we walked in the door, we were taken care of and my request for a corner table due to having my dog with me was honoured and we got a beautiful spot by the beautifully decorated fireplace. The staff were incredible for the second time running, so I know that it wasn't just a good day the first time! It is so rare these days to be served with such genuine care and respect for their jobs. I just feel going there makes me feel valued. Aside from that, the food is fantastic! I had the three cheese onion pie, also for the second time! But the choice is vast and fabulous quality. My friend and I intend to meet there again in the spring, when we could enjoy the outside area, though even on a December day, there were people sat out there in scarves and hats which looked tempting and cosy! Hope to see you again soon."

"Sunday lunch is very poor. Vegetables consisted of half a carrot, 6 green beans, red cabbage which was tasteless, 4 small roast potatoes, 2 pieces of beef and a Yorkshire pudding!! The price is £17.50p definitely not worth that much. Desert was strawberry mousse!! This was £7.25p equally disappointing in price and quality."

"We used to love visiting this establishment but we will no longer visit. My partner and I came late afternoon early evening on Tuesday 23rd January the place was very quiet, me any my partner we stayed for a few drink we where going to stay for food till we observed the staff leaning against the back of the bar on their phones not caring about he customers sat in the restaurant the few who walked in were told to order or shut up no wonder they chose to leave, now I know the girl who served us was called Kat as we over herd the one with glasses bossing her about we can only assume she is the manager a dark haired girl with glasses and a Brummy/Midlands accent she is the one who was rude to the customers the walking in. now how can you afford to give such rude appalling customer service when the place is empty I can not see the place surviving long with this poor attitude towards customers. We will no longer be coming back to Dutton's we will take our money else where when visiting Chester in future."

"We had a family 50th birthday party for a family member. The staff were very kind and helpful. There was a lot of inappropriate language coming from downstairs and lots of people shouting. We were upstairs, with elderly family, so that wasn’t appropriate. But overall a ok experience."

"The Bears Paw is a very impressive building however the service and atmosphere let it down greatly. We visited on Saturday afternoon initially for a drink which were reasonably priced the bar was busy and it was slow to order and receive drinks however I...heard people say they were attending a private event in the separate barn but the bar in there only had one staff member. We then ordered 3 small plates and two further drinks using the app which was advertised in several places. The food arrived after 25 or so minutes and it was fine for the price charged and the portions were generous however our drinks had still not arrived we asked the waiter when he brought the food and he said he would check. We had almost finished eating and our drinks still had not arrived I went to the bar which only had one person waiting and asked for the drinks I was assured they were ready to brought over it was a JD and coke and an appletiser) I asked if I could take them and was told they would be brought to the table we waited a further 10 minutes before our drinks arrived. The size of the second JD and Coke was half that of the first so there was no consistency. The atmosphere was disappointing as for such an lovely building outside there were sports TVs in all the eating area and the music was extremely loud to try and talk over. There was a table opposite with unruly children who were kicking chairs over, throwing peanuts around, jumping on one another and shouting. Whilst I appreciate it was the parent who should have controlled the behavior they also knew one of the staff members who also did not stop them. A family on another table had to ask them to be more respectful when they were left alone at the table and were very disruptive. Unfortunately we will not be returning."

"As always the service and food was exceptional. I wish we lived closer. Abbie went over and above to ensure our visit was memorable. The food was just what we wanted after a long hard day,even though most of it was not on the menu our needs were more than catered for .The quality and temperature of the food was of the highest standard. This service is something you don’t get at many restaurants. It’s all about the customer and these guys at The Fox Hounds really do care about you and your experience with them.Don’t ever change please. Best ice cream in the world. We hope to visit again in the next few weeks."
