"We knew the pub would be different under new management, and we were very open minded before checking it out, hoping to come out with a food experience given the apparent ‘hype’. Unfortunately, it’s a huge disappointment. Sports on a large tv, pool table, and slot machine looks as though you’re taken back 20 years ago. None of us felt really comfortable there, and really wouldn’t feel comfortable having an evening meal there. My friend wanted an orange juice lemonade but was given a orange juice and soda. I asked for a latte, they only do filter coffee. Not really an adequate selection of non alcoholic beverages, especially since it was lunchtime. To survive in today’s market, you need to cater to all no, it doesn’t have be a posh gastropub but you need a mix to cater for both the foodies and the drinkers. We all have our preferences, but this doesn’t really cater to anyone but the drinkers. A ‘village pub’ can be a lot of things. It doesn’t have to be something that only caters to one market. Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll be back. Also, they should really delete the reviews this pub received from the old management, a bit cheeky in my opinion using those to boost them up."

"We have now stopped at this place twice. for the first time, eating was very good, but the staff was rude and unwilling. I thought my assessment was unjust, so I returned and the employees and the hire were a million times worse at the second visit. it was quite clear that they had stopped serving food, why they didn't just say that. they have a waitress that is aloof and rude. they did not labor to tell us what food was available and were uninterested when we asked about what they have. several options have not been served anymore. it was clear that they prefer to serve locals, and I wouldn't advise anyone to go there. it is clear that they only want a certain client in their caffe."

"Delicious fresh food, efficient and friendly service in a beautiful setting. We walked here from Swattesfield campsite with several adults and a bunch of children. We all found something we wanted to eat (from vegans to fussy eaters who just wanted a plain baguette). Children enjoyed the play area and we could have stayed all day."

"What a lovely pub and landlord and Landlady! We had our regular swim at a nearby pool but didn't have anywhere to go to after for a meal together as most pubs stopped doing food by the time we were able to get dry. But this lovely landlord, who is also the chef agreed to do our meals a bit after time and what a fab meal we all had the famous pie, mash and veg all cooked to perfection with lashings of nice gravy and a pie crammed full of meat!! They had stoked the fire and sat us on nearby table to warm giving us all a lovely cheery welcome as we came in from the cold. I'm taking my hubbie and son back soon for pie and mash and we will be able to bring our dog too ...can't wait!!"
