"My wife and I went for a light Saturday evening meal/Pizza and opted for the “Al Gufo” on the Duerener strasse. The restaurant was full with just one small table free, guess where? In front of the kitchen. My wife took the seat facing the kitchen and after waiting a while for our pizzas my wife announced that you can always trust a restaurant if the kitchen looks cleans. She also said that from what she could see the produces used for cooking were fresh, another good point.Being Saturday evening the restaurant, small without being cozy, was crowded and quite loud, we had to sit forward to hear each other speak, not suitable for a romantic dinner for two. It was also warm, which the lady sitting at the table next to us must have already known because after a couple of minutes she pulled a Spanish fan from her handbag, shame a bit of air conditioning might have helped.As for the meal. Aperitif: My wife’s Martini was served chilled, good, but without Lemon, shame, nothing to say about the Kolsch beer I took, except I prefer Bavarian beer. The glass of Italian white wine my wife had with the meal, from the Gavi district, had a nice bouquet and the pizzas (after approx. a 20 minute wait) were tasty but man the cheese they used so rich we were still digesting the pizzas some four hours afterwards.So the burning question is: Go back or not go back? Yes we would go back again and, as they have quite a good choice of food and wine to choose from, we'll try something else.... but this time we'll reserve a table, preferably near the front window. It might be cooler and perhaps less noisier there."

"The Klaaf is ideally located on the Eigelsteintorburg near Ebertplatz. Surrounded by other good locals with outdoor areas, Klaaf already impresses with the extremely friendly staff. Follow the Bistro menu. Instead of the usual pommes there are roast potatoes! The map is complemented by the weekly lunch card. Not only delicious, but also very cost-effective. Have the Klaaf last time in winter before Corona can visit (very cozy inside). And we're glad they're still here. Toi toi toi."

"Being English we expect all menus to be translated, this one wasn't! The waiter Richard was very helpful and spent a good 5 minutes explaining every dish to us.Service was fast considering it was a busy Friday night. Antipasti was excellent as they slice the Parma ham fresh in front of you (if you sit near the slicer!). Pasta was freshly made in house and nothing tastes artificial.Atmosphere was vibrant and not too loud to hear someone across the table.Bravo!"
