"Worst service I have ever received. Our group waited an hour and 15 minutes for food to arrive. It was fairly busy, but not super busy and we saw at least two tables order after us and get their food before us. It took more than 30 minutes for one person at our table to receive his beer.I walked out before the food arrived. My husband returned my meal when it arrived. He paid by credit card for his and did not leave a tip. When he showed me the bill, I saw that they had added a 15% gratuity to the bill already. I don't know of anywhere else in Halifax that automatically adds a gratuity to the bill.I'm infuriated and will be telling everyone I know about the lousy service and questionable billing practices."

"I wish I could give 4.5 stars but I just can’t give 5. Food was good but I wouldn’t say great. I had a Donair and a pizza. Not sure why people say this is one of the towns best Donairs; in my opinion it’s average. It’s also very messy but maybe I wasn’t experienced enough to eat it. The restaurant itself only deserves a 3. It’s not very clean and it in need of a refresh."

"Huge portion, very tasty, fast prepared, affordable and in a good location. They are open almost all day long and you can expect the same quality every time you come. I had Buffalo chicken poutine and it was very good. There were not so many people and I could comfortably eat my meal in the restaurant."

"A truly Canadian experience away from home as well as at home. We ended up here on a late cold evening as the local sea food cafes had wait times of 3/4 of an hour or more. Nice place to relax and enjoy good food after a day of sight seeing in Halifax. Always great food from coast to coast."

"We enjoyed a delicious brunch here. I had The Durty Bird and would highly recommend it. This is a small unfussy cafe that gets to the point - good food and service! Upon our entering the place looked packed! The lineup moved quickly however, with only about a 5-7 minute wait. After placing our orders we waited outside (with our morning tea) about 10 minutes in the sunshine, until a waitress came and indicated that our table was ready. Once seated our wait was about 15 minutes and worth every minute. We enjoyed a hot home cooked styled breakfast and couldn't have asked for better flavours. A big thumbs up for The Coastal Cafe - you won't leave hungry or disappointed!"

"Definitely the best selection of wing sauces in the city. 4 different styles of wings to choose, along with the different sauces makes thousand of combinations! The rest of the food is always good as well, with the potato skin nachos being excellent as well. The service is usually fairly slow just due to it being quite a busy place, but they do always seem to be under staffed for how busy it is."
