"Pete's pies are the best. A meal on their own and definetly have with his relish. You won't find a better pie anywhere. I've eaten many breakfasts here. The right quantity and quality to start the day. Pete is a great chef."

"The food and service was very good quality, until the very end. My friend and I wanted to split the bill in half. We were advised by a friendly young waitress that it costs $5 extra to split the bill. I questioned this and the...boss came over, made a joke of the situation, without answering the question. He just added the cost, laughed it off and told us it wasn't expensive anyway. I would have given the restaurant a much higher rating if it wasn't for the behaviour right at the end. Which put a very sour taste to an otherwise lovely evening. I will not be returning."

"I often stop here when visiting Pomona. They make great reasonably priced takeaways which can then be taken to the nearby parks for a pleasant picnic. They make child friendly food and great pies. There is plenty of street parking."

"Flew up from Brisbane to visit my family for Christmas and decided to come to cactus jacks for a nice dinner. As a former employee of almost 4 years at a highly ranked cactus venue and a cactus jacks lover we left rather disappointed. Upon...arrival, no drinks were asked of us as we were sat down and not even table water was mentioned which is a big thing for cactus jacks venues. Especially with this weather it’s common sense to serve table water straight away. Waited nearly 10 minutes for our drinks order to be taken from a staff member who I’d assume only just clocked on after we watched the manger continuously walk around the venue completely oblivious to the customers waiting to be served. After the drinks order was taken we watched our drinks being made, and watched them sit there for a good 6-10 minutes before I had to get up and get the drinks myself because the margarita we had ordered had melted to the rim and we were rather thirsty as you could imagine. And as a former employee knowing the time period of when drinks need to be out by, it shouldn’t take 10 minutes to make a drink and serve it if the venue is very quiet. Mind you we were sitting in the booth right next to the bar and watched the same manager walk around the venue ignoring the drinks on the bar. Besides the poor drinks effort food had arrived and the chicken breast from the mesquite chicken was very dry and hard, chimichangas were average and had barely any prawns in it. No one came to collect our plates or even ask us for desert for another 10 minutes and the venue still wasn’t busy enough for us to have waited that long. Dessert arrived and it was probably the only good thing out of the whole experience. Also noticed that almost every glass that was hanging in the racks were murky and dirty and obviously hadn’t been polished which they should have been. And the table we were sitting at had food underneath it and overall the floor of the venue was dirty. And the manager seemed as if she didn’t even want to be there or wasn’t keen to serve anyone which is a bit poor considering you’re the face of the venue."

"Yes, it is "just the basics" but they actually do a reasonable burger - i.e better than a "maccas". Had a chicken burger and it was fresh and better quality than a fast food outlet. Good service with a smile as others have said.Pet friendly outside."
