"I visited this last night for the third time. I am so impressed that I have taken various family and friends with me every time, if nothing was too much effort until enzo the chef made fresh suppe so that my father could try to house because he was not with us. what a generous way to do. so far between us we had breakfast, coffee and cake, dinner and drink all delicious, so my experience and thought amazing food, fabulous staff and management fantastic venue and great worth I will be back with more friends at the weekend, if I can wait that long"

"Because of their gluten-free menu for our coeliac son. it was a celebration, so it was quite busy, but they managed to sit 6 of us quite fast and eating was delivered in time to the table. the boyo loved his fish and chips and they were clearly gluten-free as they stayed where they should. the server was worth knowing about the GF menu, but my only very accurate critique is that the waitress was a little crammed (she was very busy) and she gave the gluten-free eating at the wrong table she 't touch it or something and it came to us just after, but confidence is everything if with food allergies my wife and I shared an uncertain look about the table but all was. £30 for a family of four (not sure what the other 2 people paid) quite reasonable for a sitting meal. we will be defo back because eating with a zöliakie can sometimes be quite hard. well made pantry"

"There were about 17 or 18 of us to come together and all had a great night. the service was slow, what we knew it was working with the art and wise how the device currently works. this has not disturbed us too much, as we all understand the situation in the face of the difficult times. However, it seems as if it could be raised here to support better service without affecting the security. the food we had was okay, good and very good. a series of differentiated served in the meals. my was a very thick cake crust with not much steak filling, if I'm honest what was a shame when the taste was good. worth is pretty good, but the game has to be lifted a little to get reused, I think. the time we waited was a really long time when we ordered until the last meal came out (if most of us were actually finished.) I understand that many dishes are difficult to deliver within a short time span, but that was a very long time I mention here. also here, not our evening, which we enjoyed very much. focus only on easy improvements. I must add that the staff was efficient and helpful during a very busy evening."

"Having walked past this joint some one billion times I thought it was time to scope it out. Saturday afternoon was the chosen time. It has somewhat 'legendary status ' of which I was aware and I choose my words carefully. Absolutely no issues all round. I fired down several beers then bailed with my female accomplice (who was on the wines). Friendly staff and punters were in and there 's loads of seats for you. If you prefer standing at the bar then that might be tricky at times, but still. Get a beer in there and make your own mind up."

"Although not everything is available gluten free, most of the key menu items are. The GF batter isn't quite as crispy as the standard beer batter. On the plus side, they offer GF vinegar, although their GF tartare sauce is Heinz sachets, rather than the homemade tartare sauce offered to other guests. Overall, a great setting and good for GF fish and chips."

"Newcastle Village Hotel, you can’t REALLY expect to deliver a shoddy cash-grabbing experience like the party of 09/12/2017 and not be called out on it. £30.00 for a turkey dinner? Maybe, for a quality Norfolk bird with ALL the trimmings cooked to perfection; absolutely NOT for this spew. In fact the difference between what it said on the menu and what was served up is so brazen that one can almost admire the cheek of it. The “Proscuitto Wrapped Turkey Breast” was not wrapped in ANYTHING: it was just cheap-tasting turkey breast, like cash and carry stuff. Likewise the “pigs in blankets” HAD NO BLANKETS: They were just cocktail sausages, and not quality ones but the type that contain trotters, ears and lips. The stuffing made Paxo taste like the work of a culinary master by comparison, and the only things I’ve EVER tasted that were soggier than the roast potatoes were the roast parsnips in the next tray along. I can’t comment on the sprouts or carrots as I don’t like either: it would have been nice to have had a greater choice. When the hotel emailed us the menu weeks earlier it asked about any dietary needs, so we advised that one of our party had a gluten intolerance. If he expected a bespoke meal he was sadly mistaken: on the night he was just told not to eat the sausages or the stuffing. Two and a half hours later, following complaints, the man who seemed to be in charge offered to knock up some gluten-free pasta. It was way too late by then. To be fair this has been my experience of Christmas parties over the years: the food is invariably overpriced and substandard yet enough people are persuaded to cough up in advance to make them highly lucrative ventures. It’s a cynical business, and the Village Hotel is down there with the worst of them. Oh yeah, and my cracker contained this tiny little spinning top."
