"Even though Pacific Café offers several types of food, its specialty is Shanghai cruise. Last Tuesday evening (12/27/2016), my friend and I had dinner at Pacific Café. I am Shanghainese. I ordered two Chief’s Shanghai Specialties: Salty Egg Shrimp and Scallion Baked Fish. In addition, I also ordered Shepherd’s Purse with/Tofu Soup (荠菜豆腐羹), which is also a typical Shanghai soup. The soup was extremely salty (盐罐子打翻了). It is not Shanghai taste at all. The Salty Egg Shrimp supposed to be stirred. It became fried Shrimp with a lot of oil on the plate (see attached photo). I immediately asked if the Shanghai Chief was day off. One waitress said no. I asked again. I was told by another waitress that there were two Chiefs in this restaurant; one was taking leave. The restaurant should be honest to its customers; that is, if the Shanghai Chief is day off, customers should be informed not to order Shanghai food or to come another day if they want Shanghai cruise. Fortunately, the fish came out not too bad. But it was short of 1/4 tea spoon of sugar. Thus, it still was not a Shanghai dish. I was very disappointed with my experience at Pacific Café. If you like to have Shanghai food at Pacific Café, call the restaurant a day before to make sure the Shanghai Chief will be there to cook for you."
