"My recent stay at the Old Faithful Inn, managed by Xanterra, left me with mixed feelings. While the location is undeniably breathtaking, there were several aspects of the experience that fell short of expectations.Affordability:The Deluxe room I booked was far from what I anticipated. For a staggering $798 per night (including taxes), I expected more than what felt like a budget hotel or dorm room. My room had two queen-sized beds and a private bathroom, but it lacked modern amenities such as air conditioning, television, and internet. What 's more, daily housekeeping services were not provided unless specifically requested, which was an inconvenience.Maintenance:Maintenance issues were noticeable throughout the Inn. The window in my room had a significant stain on the screen, and there were visible signs of neglect, like unpainted door gasket replacements. General cleanliness, especially in the main hallways, left much to be desired. For instance, I spotted a dental floss strip in the hallway that remained unattended for three days.The bathroom amenities were also a letdown. The soap containers in our bathroom shower and sink were empty upon arrival, and despite notifying the front desk, it took multiple calls over two days to resolve this issue. The desk clerk 's attitude left much to be desired, as she seemed indifferent to our concerns. I observed a similar attitude among some of the bar attendants, which was disheartening.Service and Dining:The service quality was inconsistent at best. One employee even confided that the Inn retained some underperforming staff due to a lack of replacements, with staff members hired for only six months a year. This likely contributed to the indifferent service we encountered.The dining experience left me underwhelmed. The food was mediocre and overpriced, with the same menu offered every night. The buffet, costing around $50 per person including taxes, lacked variety and quality. To make matters worse, our order for an alcoholic beverage during one of our sit-down meals was never fulfilled.The buffet setup was also less than ideal, with utensils that were too short for self-serving, causing them to slide into the food bins. The buffet area lacked adequate staff presence, with only occasional checks on food levels in the bins.In Conclusion:The Old Faithful Inn is undoubtedly located in a stunning natural setting, but the overall experience falls short of the premium price tag. Maintenance issues, indifferent staff, and subpar dining experiences are concerning aspects of what should be a top-tier destination within our nation 's cherished landmarks. It 's disheartening to witness what appears to be a for-profit endeavor operating within these hallowed grounds. Our government should consider addressing the issue of private profiteering within such iconic landmarks."
