"Tl;dr: The Carnitas are the only way to fly if you are serious about pork, but the whole menu minus the cooking salad, probably is at the perfect end of the great spectrum. The best way to describe the Carnitas in Taqueria El Sabor is that they are meat hashbrowns. Leaves of crispy pork cover the exterior of the two sides of the pile on your plate, the inside of a crumb of silky, salty strands of pork shoulder and onion. This is one of these foods that you can go into the list of “things that I cannot go vegan because of” that also chicken wings and Mac and cheese. It shot at the top of my “food I add to my last meal” List that also chicken wings and Mac and cheese at the moment I tried it first. I cannot force myself to say anything other than “carnitas” when I command, but before I found the promised land, I had great experiences with the adobada and asada. To really experience the pure porkiness of the Carnitas, order the Combo Carnitas, which gives you a bunch of unchallenged pork along with rice, beans and one of these guilty pleasures iceberg salads with Cheddar cheese and shitty ranch. The food of the Carnitas in other ways is really the lily, but they are fantastic in any other application they offer. I ordered everything from the nachos to the Sopitos to the Chilaquiles to the Quesadilla, and I've never been near the disappointment. The service at El Sabor is always pleasant, without being overlaid, the Salsa Bar is always with the classics that await you from any self-respecting taqueria, and the horchata is cold and cinnamon-y with free refills! El Sabor is the favorite album of restaurants. Consistent, always nice to come back, and you will never be tired of it."
